As the Associate Director Communications for the international Legal Software unit, you will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic communications program that drives higher visibility and value, both externally and internally, for the Legal Software business unit (LSW) within Wolters Kluwer’s Legal & Regulatory (LR) division. You will be responsible for external communications - social media, media relations, brand management, customer relations and events promotion - as well as internal communication and employee engagement for LSW. You will also lead internal and external communications around LSW M&A activity.
You will serve as a key partner to the LSW executive management team in helping to develop and deliver effective and impactful communications that influence target audiences (i.e., customers, prospects, media, analysts, employees) and support business objectives. You will work closely with the LSW marketing team to ensure external strategies, initiatives and messaging support successful marketing and brand awareness campaigns and customer communications. As a member of the divisional LR Communications team, which is a collaborative group that includes the Communications leaders from business units across the division.
You will report to the VP, Brand & Communications of the Legal & Regulator Division.
We are looking for a highly proactive, results-oriented communication professional with excellent written and verbal English skills who’s able to combine strategic thinking with a hands-on, pragmatic approach to work.
**Responsibilities**:
Internal
- Develops, creates, and deploys effective internal communication strategy, plans, and tactics to support employee engagement and business performance.
- Advises senior management on employee communication strategy and execution, including communication around organizational changes and role changes within LSW.
- Manages internal communication channels and creates content for all channels including website, Yammer, newsletters, presentations, townhalls, and continuously evaluates and updates channel use to ensure effectiveness.
- Ensures organizational awareness of and alignment with local and corporate communication channels and policies.
- Leads internal M&A communication, in collaboration with the division VP Branding & Communications.
- Provides communication expertise and aligns local internal communication to advance and support divisional and corporate communication projects and initiatives.
- Partners with other functions (HR, Marketing) to provide communication guidance and support on key initiatives.
External
- Develops, creates, and deploys effective external communication strategy, plans, and tactics to support business objectives of LSW and indirectly the objectives of LR and the Global Branding Communications & Marketing (GBCM) organization, while boosting legal software portfolio awareness in key markets.
- Achieves desired LSW external presence among key stakeholders (public, industry, association, analyst, customer-facing) to advance product awareness and demonstrate thought leadership on key themes.
- Proactively identifies media and social media opportunities:
- Monitors key media outlets for PR opportunities and actively pitches press on topics that advance awareness of LSW solutions
- Creates opportunities advancing LSW thought leadership (bylined articles, speaking)
- Promotes awards (product, people, organizational)
- Creates content for the website and other channels
- Builds external relationships with key influencers (journalists, analysts, bloggers, associations).
- Leads external M&A communication, in collaboration with division VP Brand & Communication.
- Provides support to analyst relations program, building collaboration with MD and Marketing to support global analyst approach and strategy.
- Develop and support Social Media strategies by producing content in partnership with the Digital Marketing / Marketing team. Extend social presence for LSW on ongoing basis.
- Identifies, trains and supports spokespeople to interact with external outlets to advance awareness of Wolters Kluwer’s thought leadership and as a leading provider of digital/software solutions.
- Responsible for LSW issue management, in aligned with division VP Brand & Communication.
- Ensures organizational awareness of and alignment with local and corporate communication channels and policies.
- Aligns local communication to advance divisional and corporate communication initiatives.
- Manages external resources (agency; contractor) on as-needed basis.
Branding
- Serves as Brand Leader for the business unit: advances the corporate brand strategy through compliance and thought leadership. Proactively assesses compliance; advises on compliance; delivers training, awareness efforts.
- Creates topline LSW positioning and messaging, based on and in alignment with LR (divisional) and GBCM (corporate) positioning and messaging.
