**YOUR TASKS**

You will work on various research projects on data analysis and digital twin development for water treatment processes. Your specific tasks include:

- State-of-the-art study on mathematical modelling and digital twin development for water treatment processes.
- You develop model-based soft sensors for important measurements at the water/wastewater treatment plant using mechanistic, data-driven or hybrid models.
- Develop both mechanistic and data-driven models for water treatment processes.
- Supervising master students
- Supervising PhD students
- You will collaborate closely with external project partners.
- You actively participate in writing new project proposals on the digitization of water quality processes.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- You have a PhD degree in bio-science engineering, chemical engineering, process engineering or similar
- You have good knowledge of wastewater treatment modelling (ASM models)
- You have experience with water/wastewater treatment modelling software (e.g., WEST, SUMO)
- You have experience with computer programming such as Python/Matlab/Julia.
- You have good knowledge of machine learning and data analysis techniques or a strong affinity to learn.
- You are a quick learner and are able to conduct independent research
- You are fluent in English, both speaking and writing
- You are motivated and dedicated

**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of a 16 Months duration for 60% employment as postdoctoral researcher.
- Your contract will start on 1/09/2024 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4.
