ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client’s mission is to provide a comprehensive range of health screening tools that will eventually grant diagnostic access for everyone, everywhere, and at any time.
The company is spun out of imec, the world-leading R&D and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, and a research collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, the leading US research and medical center.
As our Quality Control Technician, you are responsible for the **quality control of incoming goods, in process controls and outgoing** **inspections**.
Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Good record keeping and diligent reporting.
- Follow QC instructions and document all findings.
- Prioritization and escalation of issues in a timely manner.
- Report your analyses so that actions can be taken if necessary.
- Help in maintaining and further improving QC instructions to keep up with the changing environment of a start-up company. Your initiatives help to achieve our quality objectives on product and company level.
- Partnering and support other colleagues in various teams, particularly Operations and Development.
You will get the opportunity to assist in:
- the development of a functional lab flow,
- the establishment and validation of new analytical molecular methods (ea UV spectrophotometry, Liquid chromatography, etc).
- the optimization of current processes.
- troubleshooting and investigations of out of specification (OOS) results.
Incoming QC:
- Check certificates and/or document test results of incoming materials
- Infra-red microscopy
- Warehouse management: release materials for use
In process controls:
- Visual inspection of hardware components (microscopy)
Outgoing inspections:
- Test all outgoing materials (liquids, consumables and hardware)
- pH meter
- Conductivity meter
- Refractive Index
- Microscopy
- (UV-spectrophotometry)
- (Liquid chromatography)
Lab management:
- Drafting and reviewing of lab procedures
- Follow-up of Equipment and maintenance
- Management of reagents and consumables
Planning & reporting:
- Provide input concerning tasks and deadlines
- Collaborate on planning and achieving milestones
REQUIRED COMPETENCES & SKILLS
**Job requirements**:
- Bachelor/Masters degree in a scientific discipline in a life science related field: (micro)biology, (bio)chemistry, (bio)chemistry engineering technology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical laboratory techniques
- Previous experience in quality control in a highly regulated industry, such as medical device (ISO 13485), IVD or pharma setting is a plus.
- High attention to detail and well organised. Work in a structured and methodological way is a must.
- You’re familiar with equipment calibration and measurement systems.
- You have good laboratory skills and numeracy skills.
- You are not afraid to take initiative and follow through on an idea.
- You work well in a team but equally can operate autonomously with personal accountability for objectives.
- You’re a reliable and communicative colleague with high integrity and ethical attitude.
- You feel comfortable in a start-up environment. You have a flexible attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Flexibility required - dependent on the needs, starting early and occasional travel required.
- You appreciate working in an open space amongst enthusiastic, multidisciplinary and international colleagues.
- Good level of Dutch and English.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, etc.
- You’re entitled to work and live in Belgium.
