About the Role
As part of our Data Governance squad you will be responsible for translating business needs and requirements into efficient models and processes.
Overview:
SWIFT is a member-owned cooperative that provides the communication platform, products and services to connect more than 10,000 banking organizations, securities institutions and corporate customers in 211 countries. In this context, SWIFT is looking for an experienced Business Analyst who excels in data modelling and translating business needs and requirements into efficient models and processes to join our Data and Analytics tribe. This tribe is responsible for reducing friction in the securities and payment ecosystem by making sure high quality data is easily available to all customers.
Based in Belgium, you will be working as a member of a dynamic international team that is responsible for the data governance of the data management platform, and by extension all other data systems at SWIFT. Your team is in charge of setting up and maintaining a data catalog and providing the governance framework, processes and support to the whole company. Your team closely works with other teams responsible for the data and API product portfolio, for data collection and maintenance and for the development and operation of the data management tools and data distribution channels. There is a strong link between the success of your team and these other teams.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into logical and technical model and process updates taking the data & system architecture, design and implementation roadmap into account. A thorough understanding of the data model, implementation, data collection tools and data distribution systems will be key, as well as checking feasibility with the lead developers
- Translating policy requirements into systems requirements and solutions, involving tools, processes and organization
- Clearly and unambiguously document the requirement specifications, data models, data definitions, user stories, use cases, data flows, boundary conditions, exceptions, test and acceptance criteria, etc...
- Challenge the status quo, and think out of the box for alternative/most efficient solutions
- Convey the information to the rest of the team through presentations or document walkthroughs
- Assist in explaining the implementation approach and timeline to the business
- Work in an agile team respecting timing and scheduling estimates, propose corrective actions when necessary. Working in an agile team means striving to maximum flexibility, helping colleagues when needed.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree is an asset.
- 5+ years of IT requirements engineering or data architecture experience is required. Additional experience in data catalogs (Collibra), data modelling (ER Studio), data management, design or architecture of data related software systems and a good understanding of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET) is a big plus.
- Good experience in structured software and/or data engineering techniques (e.g. UML, use case modelling, user stories writing, data modelling, data normalisation, state transition diagrams, regular expressions,) and knowledge of Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) is preferred.
