We are looking for a versatile professional with experience dealing with European energy and climate funding schemes and policy, integrated regulation, and industry partnerships towards reaching the targets for decarbonisation in Europe. The Analyst will support the Funding and Financing Manager in coordinating Hydrogen Europe Funding and Financing Working Group, shape funding instruments and facilitate access to funding for Hydrogen Europe’s members, in close collaboration with the Intelligence team and the Chief Technology and Market Officer.
**Main responsibilities**:
- Funding advocacy and access to funding for the members:
- Advocacy towards EU funding institutions and bodies on EU funding matters
- Identifying and monitoring EU funding opportunities for the sector (no proposal writing required)
- Mapping leading funding facilities and instruments from member states
- Mapping the ecosystem of financial institutions (VCs, CVCs, banks, Asset managers, infrastructure funds etc) active in the hydrogen sector
- Support the Funding and Financing Manager and Hydrogen Europe’s Intelligence Unit in tasks related to financial or data modelling.
- Supporting the work of the Funding and Financing Working Group such as:
- organisation of meetings
- dissemination of relevant information to members of Hydrogen Europe
- animation/ moderation of discussions and panels
- contribution to common positions and position papers.
- Funding communication and events for members:
- Independently organise webinars, panels and events related to public funding opportunities
- Support facilitating meetings and events between the hydrogen sector and private financiers (corporate & project finance)
- Create content for newsletters, members updates, ad hoc support meetings with members
- Contribute to the writing of reports on public funding, private finance and business models relevant for the hydrogen industry.
**Required**:
- A Master’s Degree in EU policy, Political Science, Finance, or Economics
- 2-3 years minimum work experience in a consultancy, the private sector, or EU institutions with a hands-on experience of EU climate policy and related funding opportunities supporting the energy transition
- Experience in working with European institutions and stakeholder management in the European ecosystem
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, etc)
- Excellent written English.
**Skills**:
- Excellent numerical skills, including capacity to collect, organise and analyse quantitative data
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills addressing a range of stakeholders from lab researcher to politicians, from one-to-one to group of 10-100 individuals to 1000+ audience, from interns to top manager
- Excellent drafting skills: capacity to write clear and convincing documents for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Group management/diplomatic skills favouring consensus in working groups
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team, even remotely
- Strong time management skills and eye for detail.
**Nice to have**:
- A good understanding of the private finance ecosystem (VCs, Infrastructure funds, non recourse finance institutions etc)
- The capacity to assess financials of companies and bankability of projects and/or business cases
- Proficiency in data management tools and database building
- Additional languages.
