Customs Specialist

The Customs Specialist is responsible for the execution and follow up of all customs declarations in relation to the customs legislation. This includes setting up and providing periodic reporting on customs activities and take actions based on this reporting.
JOB SUMMARY
1 Import- Follow up of incoming shipments- Co-ordinate import with forwarding agents, provide timely and correct import instructions and inform Supply planning and/or Customer Service- File compliant and accurate import declarations towards the authorities- Responsible for the correct execution on special import documentation and assist in queries by customs authorities- Resolve files of dispute- Provide feedback/information to stake holders with regard to import- Ensure accurate maintenance of SOP/WI’S- Work with external stakeholders supporting the inbound/import process
2 Export- Co-ordinate export with forwarding agents, provide timely and correct export instructions (EDIS) to forwarding agents- Ensure correct, timely execution of export declarations (E-filing)- Responsilbe for the correct execution on special export documentation and assist in queries by customs authorities.- Provide timely and appropriate feedback to customs authorities (GVC and/or GRM)- Ensure accurate maintenance of SOP/WI’S- Responsible for issuing ATR-certificates- Provide feedback/information to stake holders with regard to export- If applicable responsible for sending declarations of preferential origin to customer service- Work with external stakeholders supporting the outbound/export process
3 Reporting- Maintain stock records on a daily base- Ensure periodic stock controls of bonded goods- Responsible for the yearly closing stock records
4 Audit and Compliance- Provide timely and correct input to all audit requests as appropriate- Provide regular metrics and take necessary actions to meet compliance- Properly document processes in SOP’S and WI’S
5 Project Support and Continuous Improvement- Support and participation in projects relevant to the team- Seeking permanent improvement of work methods, by adhere OPEX
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
- No time loss due to missing or wrong customs documents
- No customs or other penalties thanks to proper administration
- Correct and timely taxes payments to legal authorities
- Works according to relevant SOPs and WIs
- Completes all required training in due time
QUALIFICATIONS- Level of Education: Bachelor degree, university degree or equivalent through experience- Experience: Past experience and background in customs legislation is a benefit- Languages: Fluent in Dutch (mandatory), very good knowledge English (verbal and written). Other languages are a benefit.- Computer skills: Good knowledge of PLDA and NCTS, broad PC skills in MS Office and basic SAP-knowledge
