We are looking for a **Sourcing Manager** who is a **team player** to join us in our **CMC DEV Business Excellence Sourcing & Operations** team, based in **Braine-l’Alleud**, **Belgium**
**About the role**
The Sourcing Manager acts as the main point of contact with external Contract Research Organizations (CRO), Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO) or Contract Laboratory Organizations (CLO) and consultants to create a partnership relationship and to facilitate outsourced Process Development and Clinical Manufacturing.
He/she leads business process optimization with the aim of increasing the overall department efficiency and effectiveness.
Excellence Sourcing & Operations department related to sourcing for CMC DEV includes new chemical entities (NCE), new biological entities (NBE), Devices Packaging Wearable Tech (DPWT) and academic network.
**Who you’ll work with**:
- ** Alain Merschaert** as your manager and other peers as well as many other internal and external partners at transversal level.
**What you’ll do**:
- Act as interface with existing vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders e.g. technical development teams sourcing and contract groups, procurement, external manufacturing, finance and legal/IP departments.
- Perform searches to identify suitable vendors who can provide specific capabilities to strengthen CMC Development.
- Lead the selection process for dedicated projects by including all relevant internal decision making bodies.
- Assess CMO/CLO suitability concerning technical, business and quality performance (technical due diligence) and ensure collaboration with internal stakeholders during this process.
- Participate to on-site visits and support GMP audits.
- Process quotes and invoices promptly meeting customer expectations in SAP.
- Coordinate the creation of new vendors in SAP, ensure that PO’s are initiated and approved, manage the invoicing process in comparison to agreed deliverables, manage expenses in comparison to approved budget including SAP.
- Track and follow-up purchase orders with internal/external partners.
- Lead a KPI system to manage external collaboration.
- Provide feedback to strengthen weak partners and ensure strong partners are recognized, e.g. by sharing feedback via KPI assessment or by conducting surveys to measure customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that internal document management systems are up-to-date e.g. ContractShare and CMC Development Outsourcing Sharepoint.
- Ensure that the main non-technical documents related to the outsourcing process (e.g. CDA, RFP, Quotes, Work Orders, Agreements) are properly captured in the appropriate UCB tools or systems like Sharepoint, MS Teams, ContractShare or any other appropriate UCB tool or system.
- Ensure harmonization of outsourcing processes within the wider CMC development organization (Pharma Sciences, Biotech Sciences, DPWT) and work on alignment with key stakeholders in the sourcing governance process.
- Optimize business processes to improve department efficiency and productivity by implementing "Smart/Lean" methodologies.
- Support QA relevant business processes with internal/external partners e.g. training plans, internal/external audits, SOP mapping etc.
- Coordinate and track all relevant business processes to ensure clinical trial supplies are delivered on time in full and in adequate quality.
- Represent CMC Development in the ENG (External Network Governance).
- Maintain an up-to-date status of all current portfolio demands.
**Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following** **education, experience** **and skills**
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in sciences (eg chemistry, biochemistry, analytics) preferred.
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in managing outsourcing activities for Analytical, Drug Substance and/or Drug Product Development.
- Good **Project Management** skills and good understanding of all pharmaceutical disciplines.
- Good understanding of financial, legal and intellectual properties at Development stage.
- Good **negotiation** skills to ensure that UCB development principles are well considered during the outsourcing process.
- ** Well established strategic thinking** to strengthen a strong relationship with UCB’s partners and to potentially establish a long-term partnership with those CMO’s or CLO’s.
- Very good command in English (both written and spoken), French is a plus.
