Janssen Research & Development, LLC, part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is hiring for a **Sr Category Manager, R&D Procurement PCRO, Global**. This role will be located in Titusville, NJ, Raritan, NJ, Spring House, PA or Beerse, BE.

**Position Summary**:
The Senior Category Manager will lead the outsourcing of complex clinical trials and initiatives under the Programmatic CRO (PCRO) category strategy in support of Janssen (Early & Late Development) and Consumer clinical trials. This category is highly complex in nature and requires a collaboration with key internal and external supplier business partners to execute. This individual will develop, implement and measure the category strategy in alignment with the R&D business stakeholder community, lead category initiatives to drive savings against targets for financial performance, quality and service, and ensure compliance adherence. This individual will also identify and incorporate innovative supplier service offerings and ensure suppliers continuously meet the needs of the business.

This individual will provide global end-to-end category leadership such as category strategy development, maintaining key relationships within the business and managing key supplier relationships. The position must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects.

**The Senior Category Manager’s scope of responsibilities include**:

- Develop and drive the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community.
- Contribute to the development of the vision, strategy and implementation plan for Programmatic CRO spend that will effectively meet the long-range requirements of the business partners and deliver the maximum value for J&J.
- Interface directly with Senior Leadership and other supplier leadership to ensure J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost.
- Understand clinical development operational considerations. Identify business demand requirements and partners with Business/Franchise Engagement Leads to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage.
- Understand long range business requirements and engage in strategic planning and partnering to ensure alignment.
- Negotiate complex Agreements (Master Services, 3 party collaborations, Standalone) & budgets
- Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout J&J that result in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions.
- Develop deep supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to include data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement of end-to-end value, and bring innovation to the business.
- Escalate issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree (MBA, JD, etc.) is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience is required.
- A minimum of 5 years in Procurement/Strategic Sourcing, Finance or Clinical Operations in the pharmaceutical industry and in drug development is required.
- Knowledge of clinical business operations OR core Procurement areas of focus (e.g., Spend Management, Category Management and Supplier Management) is required.
- Leadership, communication, influencing, teamwork and talent development skills are required
- Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary
- Ability to develop, drive & implement innovative solutions to meet unsolved business needs
- Customer orientation (building and maintaining positive relationships with J&J Management and suppliers)
- Strong skills desired in the following areas: business acumen, communication (verbal and written), project management, analytical, problem solving, and oriented to process improvements.
- Prior successful supervisory/people management experience is required.
- Ability to continuously improve the organization required.
- Experience with Microsoft, Salesforce, Planisware, Ariba and Tableau are preferred
- Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles across a variety of functional specialties including general management, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain or a Technical filed with at least 3+ years within a Procurement environment is preferred.
