About the Role We are looking for an experienced
Release Manager
to lead and coordinate end-to-end software releases across complex enterprise environments. You will be responsible for planning, governing, and overseeing release activities while ensuring alignment with Change Management, Deployment Management, Agile delivery practices, and DevSecOps principles. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing release lifecycles, coordinating cross-functional teams, mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement through automation and best practices.
Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and coordinate software releases across multiple projects and teams. Maintain the enterprise release calendar and manage release dependencies to avoid conflicts. Oversee the end-to-end release process, ensuring compliance with Change and Deployment Management practices. Collaborate with development, testing, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure release readiness. Conduct release readiness reviews and facilitate go/no-go decision meetings. Identify, assess, and mitigate release risks while defining rollback and recovery strategies. Ensure traceability, compliance, and adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor release progress and track key metrics such as deployment success rates, lead times, and defect leakage. Communicate release status, risks, and outcomes through dashboards and stakeholder reporting. Drive continuous improvement through automation, lessons learned, and industry best practices. Support post-release hypercare activities, defect triage, and transition to operational support.
Required Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall, DevSecOps). Experience with version control systems such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial. Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Bamboo, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps. Familiarity with build automation tools such as Maven, Gradle, or Ant. Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools including Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform. Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of release orchestration and deployment automation platforms such as Harness, XL Deploy, or Spinnaker. Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Scripting knowledge using Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack, Prometheus, and Grafana. Strong understanding of release governance, change control, CAB processes, and rollback strategies. Knowledge of incident and problem management integration for post-release support.
Qualifications
Mandatory ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
or Agile Delivery Certification (e.g., SAFe) Preferred Additional Release Management, DevOps, Cloud, or Agile certifications are considered a strong advantage.
