We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Lawyer with expertise in Capital Markets and EU Listed Company regulation to be a member of our highly successful Global Transactions practice and our global Knowledge function. This position is based in Germany (Frankfurt) or in Amsterdam, Brussels or Madrid. Role summaryThe role will focus on capital markets (debt and/or equity) and EU listed company regulation, working with practitioners across the global practice (and principally within the EU). Examples of areas within the role’s remit include the Prospectus Regulation, the Market Abuse Regulation, Shareholders’ Rights, Corporate Sustainability Reporting and Due Diligence, and Transparency Directives, EU Green Bond Standard, etc.You will deliver EU capital markets and listed company knowhow to lawyers our Continental European practice to maximise efficiency and minimise risk in line with business priorities. You'll monitor and provide expert insights into EU regulatory developments that are relevant to the European capital markets and to companies with a debt and/or equity listing in the EU, understanding what these developments mean for our clients and practice (including in the context of M&A) and translating that into client and internal facing initiatives.Experience and qualificationsFor Amsterdam: Completed legal studies, a qualifying degree (e.g. lawyer, specialist lawyer or doctorate)For Brussels:in addition to your Belgian law degree, a post-graduate degree is an assetFor Madrid: completed lawyer degree (with first-class academic records)For Germany: Qualified lawyer (with first and second state exams) with top-class academic qualificationsProven academic achievement along with intellectual acumenA high level of relevant successful experience as a fee earner or a knowledge lawyer/professional support lawyer in a transactional practice with a focus on capital markets (equity and/or debt) and corporate listings within the EU.InclusionFreshfields is an equal opportunities employer and all applications received by the firm will be considered by the firm on the basis of their merit alone and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of background.
