Manager Customs Affairs

The responsibility of the Manager Customs Affairs includes; providing conceptual and customs-technical leadership and motivation to support operational team members towards and through change, assuring and engendering a culture of customer satisfaction, maintaining positive and cooperative relationships with key stakeholders, building a knowledgeable team and ensuring compliance at all times.

The Position

Day-to-day customs technical support- Assist colleagues in resolving day-to-day customs-technical issues- Problem solving intervention for complex customs issues- Follow-up of new customs regulations/programs and ensure that new regulations are implemented- Ensure that customs formalities are accomplished in full compliance with Belgian and EU regulations- Ensure that current customs authorizations are timely reviewed or adjusted in line with the business evolution

Project Support & Continuous Improvement- Support of and participation in projects relevant to the team- Seeking permanent improvement of work methods, by adhere OPEX and Zero Defect methodology- Develop and implement customs policies and procedures, to meet all SOX requirements

Relation with Customs Authorities- Responsible for contributing to a favourable image of the company vis-à-vis customs authorities by establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with customs officials- Maintain regular contacts with Belgian customs authorities to ensure that current customs authorizations are timely reviewed or adjusted in line with the business evolution (including AEO)

Knowledge build- Develop and execute a comprehensive customs training programme for the team of (senior) customs specialists to enhance the customs-technical and operation knowledge ensuring a conituous higher level of compliance- Provide high-level and/or detailed training on customs matters to other stakeholders in the Pfizer organization

Key Performance Indicators:
- Staff well trained and skilled (Training Records)- Compliance with Customs Regulations- Correct and timely taxes payments to legal authorities- No remarks as a result of customs audits- Willingness to create appropriate climate for open communication and team spirit- Personal contribution to a better working environment- Works according to relevant SOPs and Wis- Completes all required training in due time

This is an individual contributor role.

Possible location: Zaventem (Belgium). For this position we do not offer relocation.

Your skills- Level of Education: University Degree in Logistics or equivalent- Experience: At least 10 years’ experience in Customs Legislation- Languages: Fluent in Dutch (mandatory), very good knowledge English and French. (verbal and written). Other languages are a benefit.- Computer skills: Good knowledge of PLDA and NCTS. Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint,)
