**About the Programme**

Internships last between 3 to 10 months, and may commence at any point during the calendar year. With the support from our Security team you will have to obtain a security clearance before taking up your post with us, so we are flexible on your potential start date.

During this programme you will join and support different teams and the same time you will learn from our business experts via on-the-job training and shadowing.

**Eligibility Criteria**

As an Intern at the NCIA, you’ll be expected to be able to relate and network well with your colleagues by being able to easily establish good relationships across the Agency and work with people at all levels. By building an effective network of contacts, you will create and innovate by producing new ideas, approach or insights to the projects and activities that you will undertake. We expect our Interns to deliver results by focusing on the needs of your stakeholders and work in a systematic, methodical and orderly way to achieve your projects or activity goals.

You need to be national of a NATO member country, be currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated, in the past 12 months, and have strong communication skills in English, both written and oral.

**Internship Description**

Internship duration**:6 months**

NCI Agency Financial Controller (FC) is responsible to the General Manager (GM) and the Agency Supervisory Board (ASB) for all aspects of the financial management and related governance for the Agency covering customer funding for services and the associated customer rates and financial plan preparation, internal budgetary and fiscal activities, and the promulgation of financial policy and provision of financial advice.

You will be based in **Brussels, Belgium **and u nder the supervision of the Branch Head, you will support the Finance teams in:

- Collecting/coordinating inputs from various Agency business areas to produce a consolidated set of data for the preparation of the team's key deliverables such as process and policy documents, Internal Controls, Cost to Complete (Revenue Recognition), Financial Plan and Financial Statements
- Contributing to the preparation of multiple analyses on Agency organizational, operational, and financial topics
- Developing new and improving existing tools and processes in support of the Finance team core missions
- Preparing reports, briefs, presentations and communications to be shared internally and to external stakeholders
- Implementing process management methodology and coordinating process improvements
- Undertaking accruals accounting using an ERP
- We would like you to: _
- Have a Bachelor Degree in Financial or related domain (essential)
- Have knowledge of accruals accounting
- Have basic understanding of financial processes and internal controls and knowledge of NATO environment
- Possess good communication skills including writing documents and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of French language is desirable
- Be capable of working against tight deadlines and have the ability to capture, structure and present information and conclusions
- Have experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Visio is desirable
- Ideally have knowledge in Business Intelligence (BI), Oracle Financials or a similar ERP, cost accounting principles

**Compensation**

You will be compensated at a **fixed taxable rate **of 1140.60 EUR per month, based on 38 hours of work per week and for travel expenses.

Please note that all interns must be security cleared prior to taking up their internship and for that reason we need some flexibility in the internship start date and end date.
