Mission Context
The main mission of the Software Asset Manager is to conduct software compliance inventories within their scope of responsibility, ensuring that software tools are used in accordance with the contractual commitments made with publishers.
**The role contributes to the following objectives**:
Take charge of software inventories
Produce compliance reports and monitor compliance plans
Support Purchasing during contract negotiations
Assist operational teams in optimizing software usage
Participate in the continuous improvement of the Software Asset Management (SAM) process
Study optimizations of software use and costs
Function Description
1\. Software Inventory Management
Define, communicate, and prepare inventory guides; organize kick-off meetings with technical team contacts.
Master contractual databases and licensing metrics for publishers within scope.
Support operational contacts on licensing rules and expected data formats.
Coordinate feedback from entities to ensure compliance requirements are met.
2\. Compliance Reporting and Monitoring
Consolidate, synchronize, and reconcile inventory data from multiple sources.
Produce compliance reports and share them with relevant stakeholders.
Analyze financial and contractual impacts of potential non-compliances.
Request and track compliance remediation plans from entities.
Escalate alerts and risks to management when necessary.
3\. Purchasing Support
Assist Purchasing during software contract negotiations.
Provide recommendations for license purchases.
Contribute to defining metrics and clauses related to software licensing.
4\. Operational Support
Support operational teams in software implementation and usage optimization.
Participate in projects to anticipate software-related impacts.
5\. Continuous Improvement of the SAM Process
Contribute to improving inventory data quality.
Exchange best practices with peers.
Propose evolutions to improve risk, cost, and compliance control.
Technical Experience (mandatory)
Expertise in licensing practices and metrics of major software vendors
Proficiency with software discovery and inventory tools
Advanced skills in Excel (data extraction, transformation, analysis, and reporting)
Familiarity with SharePoint for data/document organization
Experience with ITSM and Software Asset Management tools
**Preferred**:
Additional technical skills that support SAM automation or analytics
Business Experience (mandatory)
Risk monitoring and audit follow-up
IT infrastructure knowledge
Understanding of asset management principles
Ability to define relevant performance indicators
Project management experience
**Preferred**:
Experience contributing to governance frameworks or process automation initiatives
