To strengthen our newly formed **Global Biologics Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MSAT) team **in Braine-l’Alleud (Belgium), we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of**:MSAT Lab Downstream Lead.**

The MSAT Lab Downstream (DSP) Lead heads the Downstream lab activities and reports to the Head of Global Biologics MSAT.

The MSAT Lab DSP Lead is responsible for delivering on all lab-based Downstream MSAT activities by managing a team of bench-level scientists and technicians. The MSAT lab as a whole covers both the Upstream and Downstream aspects of the drug substance manufacturing process and focuses on:

- Acquiring and maintaining process expertise for late-stage and commercial products.
- Providing process expertise support.
- Transferring and maintaining small scale models from Development.
- Supporting Technology Transfers and Process Validations with lab-scale activities.
- Supporting Manufacturing campaigns with satellite runs.
- Providing deviation and investigation support through lab-scale experiments.
- Supporting Continuous Process Verification (CPV) activities.
- Supporting Lifecycle Management (LCM) activities.
- Improving the understanding, robustness and economics of commercial manufacturing processes.
- Evaluating new technologies.

The MSAT Lab DSP Lead is responsible and accountable for the timely delivery of the MSAT lab Downstream responsibilities.

The MSAT Lab DSP Lead will:

- Support the design and setup of the InfleXio MSAT lab.
- Manage the Downstream activities in the MSAT lab.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation of any scientific experimental plan, data and report.
- Provide scientific leadership.
- Author and review technical protocols and reports.
- Lead, mentor and develop direct reports.
- Ensure that MSAT policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions are developed and kept up to date.
- Ensure that the MSAT Lab DSP team members are appropriately trained in lab and HSE procedures.
- Ensure that the appropriate standards of quality, housekeeping and safety are being applied within the MSAT lab.
- Provide scientific leadership and ensure DSP lab support for Technology Transfers, Process Validations, Manufacturing operations and deviations/investigations as required, by design and execution of appropriate studies.
- Facilitate building of harmonized and standardized procedures for scale down models.
- Lead process optimization studies in support of LCM activities.
- Support Regulatory inspections and submissions.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain familiarity with contemporary industrial standards, practices, technologies, literature and ways of performing lab studies.

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following **education, experience and skills**:

- PhD or master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in downstream bioprocessing and 2 years of experience as a People Manager.
- Experience in Technology Transfer and scale-up/scale-down of drug substance processes is a plus.
- Good understanding of biopharma operations and cGMP.
- Proven People and Project Management skills.
- Very good knowledge of English (both oral and written); knowledge of French is a plus.
