We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager or HR Business Partner to join us at Fragomen. The role will be based in our Brussels office, and will own the end to end HR process for the Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg region.

THE ROLE

The role will join the EMEA Human Resources team, which is made up of HR specialists, L&D, Reward and the Talent Acquisition (TA) team, who work across Fragomen’s 13 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. We work closely together in a dynamic and engaging way to support the firm in all of its HR needs. The position will report into the London based EMEA Senior HR Director and is also accountable to two Partners, based in Brussels and Amsterdam.

This is a standalone local HR Manager role, based in Brussels. You will be responsible for a wide range of strategic and operational projects, in particular ensuring that the Firm is compliant with all business, payroll and employment law considerations. This will include responsibility for all aspects of payroll, ensuring the onboarding of new starters and transfers into the Brussels office, facilitating all employer obligations, keeping up to date with any changes to Belgium employment practices and updating our HRIS system (Workday. This role will also involve training of staff, coaching managers and working closely with the Talent Acquisition team to bring on board the best talent.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Business Partnering: Develop influential working relationships with key stakeholders in the business areas assigned to the role, building rapport quickly, partnering with them to identify targeted, effective, and sustainable HR solutions- EMEA HR Team alignment: active participant in the EMEA HR team to enable full understanding of all strategies, activities and initiatives and be accountable for delivery and articulation of these on a country basis- Employees: Preparing employment and termination agreements, onboarding new starters into Workday (the firm’s HRIS system) and the firm’s payroll and insurance systems, conducting exit interviews, and managing other tasks in relation to starter and leaver processes. In addition, acting as a key point of contact for local employees, supporting with more complex HR issues and referring to HR Shared Services where possible- Payroll: accountable for monthly payroll data submission and validation and ensuring the requisite employer obligations in this regard are fulfilled- Training: working closely with the EMEA Talent Development Manager, identifying training needs, promoting learning and development within the office, delivering training where required and preparing training material also where required- Compensation and benefits: working with the Partners, Senior HR Director and Total Rewards to benchmark and ensure competitive practices- Accountable for the annual salary review process, including close liaison with the Brussels’ Partner, EMEA HR team and Total Rewards to ensure the activities align to the global corporate requirements- Recruitment: working closely with internal EMEA Talent Acquisition team to identify and hire the best available talent, and ensure close involvement in the recruitment processes.- Wellness and Corporate Social Responsibility: maintain momentum on ensuring initiatives are in place and refreshed to keep the Brussels’ practice active in these areas- Work on and manage other HR projects and strategies focused on Employee Engagement & Development- Ad hoc tasks and projects when required under direction from the EMEA HR Director or Brussels Partner. Examples include managing social elections- Working closely with the Finance and Legal departments on a range of projects

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE- You will have extensive experience as an HR Manager, Generalist or Business Partner, ideally gained within a global legal or professional services environment - although other backgrounds may be considered- You will also be an excellent communicator - both written and verbal - who is highly collaborative, with exceptional relationship management skills at all levels

In addition, the role also requires:
- A strong understanding of Belgium employment law, as well as experience in the Belgian recruitment market- Previous experience with payroll- Complex employee relations experience- Outstanding relationship building skills across all levels- Excellent organisation skills and experience working in a fast-paced environment- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail- Ability to use judgment and work with ambiguity- Must speak fluent French and English, Dutch would be advantageous
