Ram Follow-up Manager

The business unit “Rail Infrastructure” / MMF is part of **Siemens Mobility**. This unit offers products, systems and solutions for different signalling projects in Belgium, especially for the Belgium Railway. In this context the business unit MMF has won a frame contract for the replacements of the old Relays-based interlocking by new **electronic interlocking systems** and the implementation of **ETCS L2**, a highly safe and performing European safety system. Next to the Interlocking and the implementation of ETCS L2, also trackside equipment (signals, track vacancy detection), high automated data preparation tools, test tools, Global Maintenance System (GMS) are part of this frame contract.

Measuring and improving the **Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM)** of the new installations is a key topic to be covered for the many delivery projects. You will work on **roll-out projects** of **ETCS Level 2 systems** and **Interlocking** based on Simis-W technology.

The initial focus will be on standardizing the collection of high-quality **data** for incidents from various systems & sources, strengthening communication lines internally and within the customer organization, and **smoothening the collaboration** between all involved parties to setup & fine-tune automated data flows and leverage these in RAM monitoring.

As you gain more knowledge of RAM concepts and a strong understanding of the program context, you will gradually take-over the tasks and responsibilities taken up by the current RAM Manager.

Based on the contractual requirements as well as the standards to be applied, the RAM Manager sets up the necessary **processes and tools**, and aligns those with the internal and external stakeholders, to be able to perform the **RAM performance demonstration**.

Big variety of **incidents** needs to be analyzed: on the initial roll-out projects often regarded as hardware defects (triggered by component failure), but after further **investigation** of recurring patterns in the issues, these may better be understood as a design problem, caused by system-level issues like software components, installation technique,and even process improvements.

Key activities:

- Ensure the **follow-up of the RAM performance** of the projects in service until they reach the final acceptance when RAM performance shall be demonstrated.
- **Collect data** about all failure incidents of projects in service during their 5-year demonstration period.
- **Analyze incidents and incident trends**, establishing RAM KPI allowing to quickly detect weaknesses in the in-service RAM performance of the installed systems.
- Maintain the failure report database.
- Organize **Internal Failure Review Boards** with the internal stakeholder to identify and agree on further investigations, actively monitored problems and corrective actions.
- Organize **External Failure Review Boards** with the customer to agree on incident accountability and identify and agree on further investigations, actively monitored problems and corrective actions.
- Optimize the system architecture in cooperation with systems engineering related to RAMS.
- Compile monthly and yearly **RAM performance reports**.

Your profile:

- You have **experience** in a similar position, ideally including incident analysis & resolution in reliability. Experience in signalling projects is a big asset.
- Your **technical background** allows you to understand and/or learn the content of our infrastructure projects.
- Experience with RAM (and knowledge of Cenelec) is a plus.
- **Analyzing the details** to understand what went wrong truly passions you. You are continuously aiming more **efficiency** and **continuous** **improvement**.
- Not only are you aware of the consequences for the **operations**, but you also take the **financial** and commercial aspects into account.
- You feel comfortable to take the lead in **(complex) discussions with various internal and external stakeholders**.
- You are fluent in **English** and are capable of having high level and technical conversations in **Dutch** and **French**. Knowledge of **German** is a plus.
