**What you will be doing**

We are currently looking for a **Group Safety and EHS Operational Excellence Director** to join our headquarter in Brussels. In this role, together with the other members of the Group EHS SMT, you are responsible for designing, implementing and continuously improving the Group Safety strategy in line with the Group’s vision and 2030 ambitions, as well as ensuring consistent strategy deployment at regional and business group levels.

You are also responsible for the continual development of the EHS reporting systems and processes at Group level, and the Group EHS Compliance Assurance program.

**Responsibilities**:
**Safety**
- Guide and actively support business units and Group functions to develop their safety culture.
- Define the annual goals and objectives in line with the strategic roadmap and in alignment with business units and Group functions.
- Ensure incidents are properly reported and analysed, and corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
- Continuously develop the Group process safety framework, ensuring all operational sites have their process hazards and risks properly assessed, mitigated and managed.
- Coordinate the development of Group safety policies, standards and guidelines needed for the deployment of the strategic roadmap and to meet the Group ambition of zero fatalities and serious incidents.
- Ensure that safety management systems are in place in all operational sites, consistent with the Group’s approach.

**General**
- Coach and develop Group Safety and EHS Operational Excellence team members, maintaining an optimal organization of the team’s activities and promoting the collaboration between team members.
- Support, cooperate and advise sites and business units on safety, compliance and performance management.
- Liaise with the communication team to develop efficient communications towards the different levels and audiences to support the development of a prevention and caring culture.
- Actively communicate with business units and functions in order to align strategy, plans and actions with the Group’s strategic plans and roadmaps.

**EHS Compliance Assurance**
- Coordinate the Group EHS compliance audit process.
- Define the compliance assurance framework to enable effective and sustainable compliance to legal and company requirements at site level.

**EHS Reporting and Performance Management**
- Ensure proper and consistent reporting of EHS metrics across the Group.
- Lead the development and implementation of EHS digital solutions to be used broadly across the Group..
- Prepare, share and present the Group Safety performance on a monthly basis.
- Support Group ESG in the preparation of the annual sustainability report, in compliance with the EU CSR Directive.

**Regional and Business Group EHS Management**
- Coordinate the network of Regional and Business Group EHS leaders to ensure consistency in the deployment of the Group EHS strategic roadmaps, standards and initiatives.
- Ensure that regions and business units are involved in the development of the Group EHS strategic roadmaps, standards and key initiatives.
- Facilitate the communication and sharing between regions, business units and Group EHS.

**Who we are looking for**

**Requirements**:

- University degree, preferably Masters in Engineering
- H&S specialization (level 1 prevention advisor, NEBOSH diploma or equivalent)
- 15+ years of experience in H&S management
- Broad industry experience
- Solid experience in developing and implementing H&S management systems, programs, procedures and trainings
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Open minded, innovative, showing initiative and able to develop new concepts and to deliver creative solutions
- Highly motivated and self-driven, with personal drive for change and improvement.
- Good interpersonal skills; able to build networks with stakeholders at all levels. Strong team player.
- Good communication and presentation skills, adaptable to different target audiences.
- Strong training and coaching skills
- Role model and expert in H&S programs.
- Able to develop, validate and coordinate the rollout long term plans, goals and programs.
- Able to think strategically and at an individual level
- Negotiating skills and able to influence others with respect
- Able to handle confidential information
- Correctness, respect, integrity and sense of justice towards management, employees and union representatives
- Statistical analysis skills and experience
- Good analytical skills and problem-solving orientation
