Job Mission

We are looking for a full time in-house counsel to join the Legal Department of Deutsche Bank Belgium consisting of 4 legal counsels and a legal team manager.

You will be part of a dynamic and motivated team dealing with various banking and insurance matters (implying legal support of innovative projects, consultations, analyses, drafting of legal documents, legal watch, etc.). You will have the opportunity to participate in Deutsche Bank working groups at international level.

You will be more particularly involved with our business lines in the MiFID and sustainable finance projects, this in an autonomous manner.

Key Accountabilities

Our in-house counsel is accountable for the provision of legal services for Deutsche Bank Belgium. This includes in particular the following tasks:

- Pro-active and high quality advices on legal and regulatory changes in the financial sector with a focus on investment services (MiFID), sustainable finance, distribution of financial products
- Drawing up and optimising the legal documentation and communication intended for clients
- Working closely and fostering collaboration with the other team members and other teams such as Compliance, Complaints, Marketing & IT, Investment and Insurance, Estate Planning, Wealth Management, Retail Banking, etc.
- Participation in the banking association and other Deutsche Bank working groups (locally or at the international level) in the relevant aera of expertise
- Legal watch and pro-active information to the team and the group if relevant
- Contacts and follow-up of any issues with the Belgian supervisory authorities
- Compliance and endorsement of compliance with DB Group’s internal rules in general
- Ensuring effective implementation of relevant strategies within defined Risk Appetite and Tolerance
- Managing reports on and escalation of any risks identified
- Representation of the legal team towards internal/ external stakeholders; maintains and fosters internal and external key (business) relationships
- Ensuring the remediation of issues

Key Profile
- Master in Law with good academic references
- You are fluent in Dutch, French and English
- You have min. 5 years experience as a lawyer or legal counsel in a bank
- You have knowledge of the legal aspects concerning retail banking and the regulations of the financial sector including cross borders aspects (MiFID, sustainable finance, prospectus regulation, trade practices, distribution of financial products, public offering and private placements, legislation relating to UCITS, AIF, PRIIPS, IDD, etc.)
- You have excellent communication skills and are able to interact professionally and with conviction with employees and mangers at all levels in the organization
- You are autonomous, pragmatic, organised, solution-oriented and combine creativity and legal certainty
- You manage stressful situations with internal customers and supervision holders while preserving a professional approach to solve the problem
- You are able to develop good relations with the local supervisory authorities
