Based in Nívelles (Belgium), you will join an interdisciplinary team of passionate scientists, engineers, clinicians and business profiles developing an innovative end-to-end RNA production platform aimed at supporting (bio)pharma companies in all parts of the World with their mRNA-based pipeline. **Responsibilities**:
As a member of the Drug Delivery and Administration Research team within Quantoom’s Research department, the Junior Scientist will work on the design, development, testing and/or optimization of the next-generation RNA manufacturing system. In particular, the Junior Scientist:

- Contributes to the design, early development and testing of the next-generation RNA manufacturing system;
- Contributes to tactical planning of related projects, under supervision of the responsible Scientist;
- Contributes to the experimental design of proof-of-concept, screening and optimization studies, under supervision of the responsible Scientist;
- Prepares experimental documentation (experimental protocol, data capture forms, study report);
- Performs or supervises laboratory experiments and ensures compliance with good scientific practices;
- Maintains process description and process history files throughout the innovation project;
- May provide scientific expertise pertaining to mRNA formulation and administration technology development at internal and external meetings;
- Supports (hands on) the engineering team and external partners in the design and development of new manufacturing technologies and systems pertaining to DP operations;
- Collaborates with external service providers and development partners on manufacturing projects (including project coordination, remote or in-person supervision of external workstreams, preparation or review of study documents etc.);
- Monitors emerging manufacturing technologies and scientific advancements in the field of mRNA drug product technologies.

**Profil**:

- Master’s degree in bioengineering, (bio)chemical engineering, pharmacy or any life sciences degree offering academic knowledge of both biomolecular science, material sciences and chemical engineering (unit operations)
- An advanced degree in the field of drug delivery or administration technology development (e.g. PhD) or prior professional experience in the field is a considerable asset;
- Experience with microfluidic devices and/or pharmaceutical unit operations is a considerable asset;
- Experience with scientific protocols and laboratory equipment used in the field of drug product development, such as: mammalian cell culture and transfection, molecular biology techniques, relevant analytical technologies (e.g. DLS, spectrophotometry / fluorimetry / bioluminescence),
- Prior experience with nucleic acid formulation and/or administration technologies is a significant plus;
- Critical and independent thinker; analytical mindset;
- Innovative mindset / scientific creativity: natural inclination to challenge the status quo and ability to conceptualize feasible process improvements (both evolutions and revolutions);
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision;
- Ability to function in a high-paced, dynamic environment;

- Fluent in English (written and spoken); knowledge of French is an asset.
