Freelance Data BI Consultant – Power BI & DAXLocation: Brussels (Hybrid)Contract Type: Freelance / ContractorDuration: Long-term project (initial 12 months, extension likely)Start Date: ASAP / FlexibleWork Model: Hybrid (2–3 days onsite in Brussels)Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Freelance Data BI Consultant with strong expertise in Power BI and DAX to support a long-term data analytics and reporting programme. You will work closely with business stakeholders and data teams to design, develop, and optimise high-quality dashboards and analytical solutions that drive decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business and management useCreate and optimise complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and data modelsTranslate business requirements into clear BI solutions and visualisationsImprove performance and usability of existing Power BI reportsWork with multiple data sources (SQL databases, data warehouses, APIs, Excel, etc.)Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance standardsCollaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analystsProvide documentation and knowledge transfer where requiredRequired Skills & ExperienceProven freelance experience as a Data BI / Power BI ConsultantExpert-level Power BI development experienceStrong DAX skills (complex measures, optimisation, performance tuning)Solid understanding of data modelling (star schema, relationships, best practices)Experience working with SQL and relational databasesStrong analytical mindset and ability to work with business stakeholdersFluent English (French and/or Dutch is a strong plus)Comfortable working in a hybrid Brussels-based environmentNice to HaveExperience in large or complex enterprise environmentsKnowledge of Azure data services (e.g. Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory)Experience with Power BI Service, security (RLS), and deployment pipelinesBackground in finance, public sector, telecom, or industrial environmentsContract Details & RateFreelance market rate:Depending on experience and skill levelLong-term visibility with high likelihood of extensionHybrid setup offering flexibility and on-site collaboration in BrusselsWhy This Project?Long-term, stable freelance engagementOpportunity to work on impactful, business-critical BI solutionsModern BI stack with strong focus on Power BI and analytics maturityFlexible hybrid working model
