We are seeking a ‘Business & Functional Analyst - Expert’ to lead business and functional analysis activities across complex information systems and regulated market processes. The role ensures that requirements, solutions, and changes are analyzed, structured, and implemented in accordance with defined architectural, security, and governance frameworks.
The Expert Analyst is responsible for coordinating complex analysis activities, addressing structural issues, and ensuring consistency between business processes, system solutions, and change implementation within controlled and compliant environments.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Functional Analysis
- Lead the analysis of business processes and system changes
- Define, structure, document, and model business and functional requirements
- Maintain consistency of requirements across systems and stakeholders
- Align requirements with business, data, and integration architecture principles
Problem & Change Management
- Lead root cause analysis for system and process issues
- Identify structural causes of recurring issues
- Translate problems into structured change initiatives
- Define and validate acceptance criteria for changes
- Ensure coordination, follow-up, and validation of changes
- Contribute to prevention of recurring issues through monitoring and continuous improvement
End-to-End Process & Solution Coherence
- Analyze and structure end-to-end business processes
- Maintain alignment across systems and domains
- Verify that solutions comply with architectural and governance principles
Governance, Security & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure adherence to architectural principles and governance standards
- Incorporate security and privacy requirements into analysis and solutions
- Verify compliance with development, testing, and validation requirements
- Address monitoring, logging, and remediation requirements
Stakeholder Alignment & Coordination
- Engage and coordinate stakeholders (business, IT, external parties)
- Ensure alignment across involved parties
- Coordinate activities across systems and stakeholders
Quality & Transition Oversight
- Define and validate acceptance criteria
- Participate in testing, validation, and release preparation
- Produce documentation and knowledge transfer materials
- Handle transition of solutions to operations
Required Skills & Experience
Domain expertise (Energy Sector)
- Preferable 10 years of professional experience in the Belgian energy sector
- Experience working in environments involving energy-related systems and processes
- Understanding of operational contexts within the energy sector through practical experience
Business & Functional Analysis Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in business and/or functional analysis
- Minimum 10 years of experience collecting, documenting, and modelling requirements
- Experience analyzing complex business processes and systems
Problem & Change Management Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience performing root cause analysis
- Minimum 10 years of experience translating problems into concrete changes
- Experience defining and validating acceptance criteria
- Experience addressing recurring and structural issues
Stakeholder & Change Coordination Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience coordinating and following up changes
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships and priorities across multiple parties
Architecture, Security & Governance Expertise
- Understanding of business, data, and integration architecture principles
- Experience integrating security and compliance requirements into analysis and solutions
- Experience working within governance and controlled environments
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience)
Languages
- Dutch and/or French: minimum C1 level
- Second national language: minimum B2 level
- English: minimum B2 level
Certifications
- Minimum 1 relevant certification (e.g. ITIL, Agile, Prince2, BPMN)
