Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist

You will be based in our European Distribution Center in Machelen, ensuring compliance with all customs, trade policies and regulations.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to day-to-day supply chain logistics and operational trade (import and export) issues/inquires.
  • Develop effective internal controls to ensure site compliance with corporate and Government agency requirements including Classification (Harmonized System Code), Country of Origin, Valuation, and other key trade compliance topics such as special trade agreements.
  • Develop and implement Compliance Improvement Plans, as needed, to address and correct issues identified during corporate compliance assessments.
  • Provide analytical support related to transactional review/audit of all import/export records.
  • Consolidate and analyze import/export data to identify risks or opportunities for savings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate response to carriers and brokers to resolve freight/broker issues to avoid disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Establish effective working relationship with all departments and affiliates to understand the business including its supply chain flows, products, systems, research, materials, applications.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelorâs degree required in business, logistics/transportation or any another related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in import/export operations.
  • General knowledge of Global Freight Forwarding, customs brokerage operations and customs regimes.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and close attention to details.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time appropriately
  • Proficient knowledge of excel and reporting tools as Business Objects.
  • Team player and customer oriented.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, written and spoken; other languages are an asset.
