Account Manager Grid Codes & Regulated Contracts

Function

The Contracts and Regulations Team in the Customers Department acts as a linchpin between Elia and the authorities and regulators. It groups, prioritises and analyses all of Elia's ambitions and challenges that have an impact on the regulatory framework. With this in mind, the team is the contact point for a number of internal experts and services and ensures that the various departments have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks.

The team is also responsible for regulated connection and access contracts; after intensive consultations with regulators and market parties, the team ensures that both types of contracts are in compliance with applicable regulations.

As Account Manager Grid Codes & Regulated Contracts, you will participate in exchanges between Elia, market parties and, where necessary, Belgian institutions. Besides this, you will closely monitor developments in various cross-disciplinary files while also actively contributing to these files. You will be involved in daily dialogue with the outside world, particularly with regulators and market parties, in order to communicate Elia's views.

Your main responsibilities follow below:

  • You are an expert on connection and access contracts;
  • You participate in regulatory projects, either by contributing to the development of Elia's ambitions or by supporting and guiding the responsible cells;
  • You are responsible for implementing a changing (European, federal and regional) regulatory framework in terms of the connection or access to the grid;
  • You analyse developments in regulations abroad and the operations of foreign system operators and regulators in order to monitor developments in the electricity market;
  • You develop an action plan and determine how Elia's ambitions can be integrated into the legal and regulatory framework as efficiently as possible;
  • You form a link between the projects that the various Elia departments are working on and guarantee that Elia communicates coherently with the authorities.
Your Profile
  • You have a Master's degree in political science, law, economics or a technical field like engineering, which demonstrates your interest in technology, law and economics;
  • You have about three years' experience in a relevant position;
  • You are familiar with how Belgian and European institutions are organised;
  • You are familiar with the most important principles underlying the organisation of the energy market or a regulated market;
  • Prior experience with the mechanisms of economic regulations would be an advantage;
  • You have excellent communication skills;
  • You are organised and able to meticulously implement a number of projects simultaneously;
  • You find it easy to communicate in French and Dutch and have a good knowledge of English, which enables you to follow developments in European legislation;
  • You are able to explain complex matters simply without losing sight of the technical aspect;
  • You are motivated to learn about the different domains associated with Elia's various activities;
  • You are able to question things in a critical but constructive way;
  • You enjoy working with different people.

  • Salary: a competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, sport & culture vouchers, bonuses based on individual and group results.

  • Private PC plan: once every 3 years, a budget will be made available to you for a PC/tablet with software & peripherals for personal use.
  • Discounts: you will enjoy a 30% discount on your gas and electricity bill.
  • Mobility: we will offer you a company car and public transport or a mobility budget.
  • Elia shares: Elia will give you the opportunity to subscribe to shares with a discount of 16.66% on the average share price.
Location

This office is easily accessible by public transport, a 5-minute walk from Brussels-Central station.

We also operate a hybrid work policy that allows you to combine working in the office and at home.
