**Job Summary**
The Implementation Operations Manager is responsible for the project management of implementation of Board-approved recommendations from review teams and cross-community working groups. This role oversees day to day conduct and success of the project and the project team, including the planning, organizing, managing, controlling, and communicating on all phases of the project.
The Implementation Operations Manager ensures the project deliverables are produced on time, on budget, on quality, and with satisfaction by all stakeholders. This role manages the project action items, issues, and risks and will be responsible for producing the project management documents such as project charter, schedules, estimates, quality criteria, and risk analyses.
The role is responsible for the overall cross-functional coordination of large, multi-year projects and requires a high degree of organization, project management experience, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving aptitude. The Implementation Operations Manager drives successful outcomes working collaboratively and engaging constructively with internal and external stakeholders.
**Key Responsibilities & Duties**:
**Project-related responsibilities**
- Manages the cross-functional work of the Project Team, including development of project plan, and tracking/reporting.
- Schedules, sets agendas, and leads Project Team meetings.
- Prepares project status reports per input from the Project Team members.
- Captures and distributes meeting minutes that include decisions and action items within 24 hours of the meeting.
- Logs all decisions in a decision log and escalates issues from the Project Team to the Project Sponsor as needed.
- Provides oversight of implementation to ensure it (1) adheres to Board-adopted recommendations and any other directives from Board, and CEO; and (2) protects the organization.
- Ensures Project Team’s work aligns with project strategies approved by Project Sponsor.
- Facilitates resolution of conflicting priorities and interests.
- Defines/creates standards for project reporting by Project Team.
- Escalates implementation issues to Project Sponsor and Stakeholders.
- Communicates Project Sponsor & Stakeholder decisions to Project Team.
- Proactively manages interdependencies and risks.
- Ensures adherence to project governance roles and responsibilities.
- Tracks project performance using appropriate KPIs, metrics, tools, and techniques.
- Identifies, proposes, and implements project management process improvements.
- Performs any other relevant, project-related duties when needed.
**Cross-functional Responsibilities**
- Coordinates the cross-functional teamwork throughout all project management phases.
- Ensures that all team members have the required information and resources to carry out their tasks effectively.
- Manages large and diverse teams and projects (sometimes simultaneously).
- Fosters a culture of accountability and transparency.
**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)**:
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources and direct the execution of objectives, strategy, and approaches to critical strategic and design decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and engage effectively cross functionally including with senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in complex, culturally diverse, and political environments.
- Proven ability to inform and influence others through impactful presentations and writings.
- Broad knowledge of ICANN’s mission, mandate, Project Management Framework, reviews and cross-community working group processes and norms of engagement with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills including, at a minimum, written and verbal fluency in English.
- Ability to lead and work with a diverse workforce and community, in a highly visible and accountable role.
- Commitment to organizational principles of accountability and transparency.
- Proven ability to manage high-performing teams to meet tight deadlines.
- Comfort level with work environment spanning multiple time zones and occasional regional and international travel.
- Ability to make significant decisions independently and drive best practices and solutions.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with experience building agreement on complex issues.
- Collaborative, communicative and team-building mindset in a dynamic and fast changing environment with a distributed, highly diverse workforce.
- Ability to solve complex issues in an ambiguous environment.
- Working knowledge of Internet infrastructure, with a preference for knowledge of the Domain Name System.
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive work experience in project management and operations, experience in global work environment preferred.
