About the role
What you need to know:
The Marine Underwriter Team leader will contribute in maintaining a robust first-class local marine underwriting team.
The historically profitable AIG Belgian marine portfolio comprises over 200 policies, which grant AIG with an exceptionally strong position in the Belgian marine market.
Based in Brussels and reporting to the Head of Marine for France, Belgium and Luxembourg, your responsibilities will consist in the following:
Main responsibilities
Marine New Business Underwriting:
- risk analysis, setting up international and national insurance programs,- study of contractual clauses, pricing, negotiation;- ensure the link with the HQ in parallel within the framework of the references and the guidelines.
Management of a portfolio of clients and renewals:
- monitoring of business profitability, renewal of contracts, monitoring of claims with the claims department- Reporting- Responding to requests from our Brokers,- In contact with all brokerage players, you contribute to the development of the portfolio and the promotion of AIG- Works in collaboration with other departments (distribution and other business lines)- Develops and consolidates relationships with brokers- Participate in client & broker meetings
Key Capabilities:
- You are a team player with good relationship and communication skills,- You work autonomously and have a decision-making capacity,- Supervisory / managerial capability, with people management skills to coach, motivate and lead a team of experienced professionals.- Proven ability to thrive and perform in an international and fast-paced environment.
What we’re looking for:
- Ideally, you hold a master degree in Transport Law.- You are experienced with at least 3 years in brokerage or company on the main fields of cargo, logistics and commodities.- You developed high analytical capability and deductive skills.- Excellent English, French & Dutch communication skills. Any additional European language is an asset.- Proficient use of both Excel and Word.
