As Country Manager you will be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day management of the Belgian branch, and for the delivery of the annual commercial and financial plan.
You are expected to provide inspirational leadership and lead the local teams in the implementation of the MS Amlin growth strategy for the Belgian market. You will represent MS Amlin in the Belgian market towards our clients and distribution partners. You will have to continuously improve the processes and the Belgian organisation to keep them state of the art and in line with the growth of the Belgian branch.
The Country Manager Belgium reports to the MS Amlin CEO.
The MS Amlin organisation operates with a matrix management structure by which a part of the local functions report to both the country manager and the group Heads of function. The Country manager will collaborate actively with its peers in the other countries and with the Heads of function. You will be a member of the MS Amlin senior leadership team.
Key Result Areas.
Strategy
- Contribute to the development and effective delivery of the MS AISE strategy for the Belgian market, ensuring client intimacy and profitable growth.
- Submit annual business plan targets to the MS AISE Management Committee and ensure desired performance is achieved.
Operations
- Oversee the operations and underwriting performance to ensure compliance with the relevant procedures, controls and regulations for the Belgian office
- Assist in the identification and development of broker initiatives in Belgium which supports P&C Europe objectives.
- Work in collaboration with the Market Management, Products and Distribution function to ensure that business is marketed in line with the group Brand standards and procedures.
- Be accountable for ensuring compliance with the MS AISE standards in terms of policy issuance and underwriting management requirements for the Belgian office.
People Management
- Ensure dual reporting lines management structure works effectively in the Belgian office to ensure all initiatives are managed appropriately.
Underwriting Management
- Ensure that Underwriting and Claims activities are conducted to provide satisfactory levels of client service which upholds MS Amlin reputation and meets regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Monitoring
- Be responsible for monitoring and confirming regulatory, legal and compliance (or reporting breaches and issues) in accordance with the Company’s procedures.
Financial Management
- Ensure appropriate case and quarterly claims reserving processes are in place and are satisfied that the quantification of reserves properly reflects a fair assessment of potential liabilities.
- Ensure that the Belgian office adopts the appropriate financial controls, including over expense management, in accordance with MS Amlin standards.
Profile
- Requires extensive professional experience (15-20 year as a guide) including substantial managerial experience
- Requires depth and breadth of expertise combined with a solid knowledge of the Belgian Insurance market and competitors.
- Proven track record in P&C business from insurance or broker perspective
- Ability to lead change and drive engagement
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
