Manager EU Institutional Relations
- The_ importance of security and defence is growing for EU Member States and the European Union. _
- Sweden and Saab are set to embark on a new defence and security path as Sweden has applied to become a full member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO. _
- In light of this, Saab is building a new organization to handle future opportunities and challenges within NATO and the EU; _Saab NEO_. _
- Saab’s Brussels office will play an increasingly important role within NEO and we are therefore strengthening the office._
- We are now looking to recruit an experienced manager for EU institutional relations to join our EU affairs team in Brussels beginning of March. _

Your role

As manager for EU institutional relations, you will be an important resource to the office, its wide ranging responsibilities and tasks, both internally and externally.

Your main responsibility and focus will be to secure that EU legislative and policy initiatives of relevance to Saab are managed in a professional way and in a timely fashion in relation to the EU institutions, notably the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council and other stakeholders of importance to Saab in Brussels.

An important part of your role will hence be to provide the Head of EU Affairs with up-to-date information on key initiatives, how they impact on Saab and how they could be addressed in relation to the EU institutions in order to secure Saab’s interests. You will also focus on executing strategic communication and lobby activities in relation to the EU institutions to secure Saab’s interests.

The main tasks will be to:

- Identify, manage and secure Saab’s interests in key EU legislative and policy initiatives
- Develop Saab’s relations with EU officials and decision makers
- Propose, develop and execute strategic communication and advocacy plans in relation to the EU institutions
- Develop new communication channels and networks that serve Saab’s interests
- Update, coordinate and activate team members within NEO and in other parts of Saab’s organisation for internal and/or external deliverables
- Liaise closely with Head of EU Affairs in order to secure accuracy, high quality, coherence and effective delivery internally and externally

**Profile**:
We are in particular looking for a new colleague with the following professional experience and skills.

Required skills
- Univerity degree in social science, economics, law, EU affairs, diplomacy or public relations
- Minimum five years of relevant experience from working with EU legislation, policy, strategic communications and/or advocacy
- Excellent knowledge of the EU institutional environment, legislative and decision making processes
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficiency in Swedish and English, written and spoken
- Excellent communication, listening and networking skills, with an existing network of contacts across EU institutions
- Forward leaning, good drive, patience and ability to take initiative
- Manage tasks from beginning to the end
- Able to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to explain complex information in a clear and simple manner
- Team player but also autonom

Desired skills
- Experience from working in the EU institutional environment
- Additional language skills in French and/or German
- Experience in the security, defence or related sectors

The role may also require some travelling from time to time, when needed, between Belgium and other European capitals.

This position requires that you will be approved in a security screening in accordance with the Swedish Protective Security Act.

As manager of EU Institutional relations you will be based in Brussels and report directly to Saab’ Head of EU Affairs, but you will also work closely with other NEO team members as well as with colleagues throughout Saab’s organisation whenever needed.
