**Intro**:
The International Cooperation department of Belgian Red Cross - Flanders works on development cooperation and disaster response. In these areas it manages projects in the area of first aid, blood banking, disaster preparedness and disaster response, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Belgian Red Cross - Flanders aims to increase the impact of its international projects by specializing in specific fields of expertise and developing evidence-based materials and delivery mechanisms in these fields. We are looking for a content expert, managing the disaster response projects of Belgian Red Cross - Flanders. Becoming an expert and the will and flexibility to coordinate BRC-FL’s emergency response in case of sudden international crises are true motivators in this position.

Previous experience in this expertise area is not essential, as Belgian Red Cross - Flanders will provide all the relevant training, but you must be open to learning the ropes and have a good feel for practical organization and stakeholder management. You are based in Mechelen and may travel occasionally to the project countries.

**What will you do?**
- You continuously build expertise in disaster response in humanitarian settings.
- You contribute to the development of a strategy and roadmap for the disaster response activities of Belgian Red Cross-Fl.
- You are open to working in a data-driven and evidence-based manner.
- You use your knowledge and insights to develop or adapt methodologies.

**You facilitate Belgian Red Cross-Fl’s response to international humanitarian disasters**:

- You closely follow up on humanitarian disasters through actively collecting and disseminating information, and by collaborating with other stakeholders within Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (e.g. the Fundraising and Communications departments) and the global Red Cross Movement.
- You coordinate the response to large, strategic or regional disaster response projects, in support of the Head of Expertise and Program Design.
- You are the focal point within the department for any questions related to disaster response projects.
- You are responsible for the effective and efficient control of Belgian Red Cross-FL ‘global surge’ instruments (Disaster Response Emergency Fund, Benelux Emergency Response Unit,)

**You showcase your expertise in disaster preparedness and disaster response**:

- You represent Belgian Red Cross-Fl on relevant fora.
- You contribute to fundraising through identification of funding opportunities and supporting project proposal writing.

**Who are you?**
- You are familiar with, or looking forward to dive into, the world of disaster response.
- You combine a flexible and hands-on mentality with an accurate approach.
- You are a good communicator and enjoy taking on a coordinating role in projects.
- You have a master’s degree.
- You are fluent in Dutch and English. French is an asset.
- You are open for occasional travel
