Discovery - Lead Support Consultant

**Skills, knowledge, experience required**:
- A university degree in a relevant field;
- Detailed working experience with BMC Discovery;
- Working knowledge of ITSM CMDBs, in particular relating to data quality and integrations;
- Experience working autonomously while supporting Managed and standard Service Customers;
- Performing BAU style tasks to run BMC Discovery on an operational basis for a short period of time;
- Hands-on experience with the latest version of BMC Discovery;
- Creative, open-minded, and flexible with excellent teamwork capabilities;
- Strong result-oriented mindset with initiative and clear communication skills;
- Familiarity with different types of operating systems, network, storage, software, access methods and protocols used in infrastructure communications and discovery;
- Certification in BMC Discovery;
- Certification in ITIL and/or project management;
- Experience with programming or scripting, such as TPL (BMC Discovery), Bash, Python, JavaScript;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate clearly with customers and other stakeholders;
- Ability to develop positive working relationships in a distributed team, and to create effective collaboration with direct and extended team members;
- Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge of Data Quality principles;
- Ability to adapt to different environments, ways of working and terminology as it relates to the customer.
**Duties/role**:
- Developing and interpreting Solution Design in the deployment of the Discovery solution;
- Holding technical workshops and guiding customers through best practice;
- Maintaining and deploying custom TPL code (understanding of TPL code not prerequisite, but it is expected to be gained through a mixture of KT and exposure);
- Reporting, analysing and delivering summaries of discovery results;
- Providing feedback from time to time with suggestions for improvements to standards, procedures and code;

- Collaborating with architects and customers resources to raise change requests in accordance with standards and compliance;
- Investigating problems and issues reported with discovery, raising and tracking bug cases providing documented evidence of issues, and working with support teams to work-around and resolve issues;
- Documenting own steps to resolve issues, workarounds and improvements;
- Working in support environment to support related Managed and standard Service customer activities and working with presales to support related presales activities as and when required;
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert for BMC Discovery and Data Quality;
- Advising on implementing best practice;
- Installing, configuring, and integrating discovery and customer solutions;
- Configuring discovery and developing integrations as per requirements;
- Understanding technical requirements and providing data analysis and reporting;
- Providing best-practice advice within context of customer constraints such as security and resources;
- Providing ad-hoc consultancy advice and guidance as required;
- Managing customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to customers on their projects and identifying new opportunities within the existing customer base;
- Developing and engineering scripting solutions that improve efficiency of the discovery solution;
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and test software subproducts in advanced radar processing systems;
- Utilizing real-time software techniques to enhance radar and optical sensor performance;
- Participating in Agile Scrum processes to ensure timely and high-quality product integration;
- Identifying and resolving software integration issues using tools such as C, C++, Linux, Jenkins, Nexus, and Maven;
- Supporting continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes to streamline development workflows;
- Engaging in field exercises to observe live deployments and refine integration strategies;
- Developing own expertise through opportunities in software architecture, test engineering, or project and team management.
