Our Product Comms team focuses on storytelling in tech and consumer media to drive awareness for our products and how we’re innovating to better serve our customers, partners, and cities.
**About the Role**:
We are looking for an experienced EU public affairs professional to lead our efforts in Brussels, based in the city. You will report directly to the Head of Corporate & Product Communications for EMEA and work closely with the EMEA leadership team.
**What You'll Do**:
- Develop and deliver Uber’s EU public affairs strategy, in partnership with the EU policy team;
- Build proactive campaigns to educate policy makers and KOLs on Uber’s vision, positions and values relating to a broad range of topics impacting our mobility and delivery platforms, including sustainability, platform work, safety and data & algorithms;
- Lead issues and crisis management at the EU level, while supporting in-country communications teams on relevant issues that impact our positions in Brussels;
- Develop written materials including messaging, announcements, Q&As, briefings, speeches, presentations, press notices and social copy;
- Act as a point of contact for the Brussels based policy media;
- Work as part of an EMEA and global cross-functional team;
- Brief and prepare senior leadership for challenging media or non-governmental stakeholder engagements.
**Basic Qualifications**:
- EU experience in corporate or policy communications for technology or consumer facing brands, or in relevant Government communications departments;
- Strong command of the media, policy, and cultural landscape in Brussels and across the EU - with a good understanding of EU technology regulation;
- Shown experience of working with or in the Brussels press corps would be an asset.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Comprehensive existing network of EU contacts across press, KOLs and relevant institutions;
- Strong strategic capabilities and proven record to develop proactive communications strategies that cut through and drive measurable results;
- Experience in issues management and explaining complicated topics to a wide range of audiences;
- Experienced at going beyond media relations to reach our audiences;
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to experiment in order to learn and identify creative solutions;
- Natural campaigning attitude; shown ability to craft and promote corporate interests;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead multiple projects simultaneously;
- Ability to build relationships cross-functionally;
- Ability to balance critical thinking with tactical execution and attention to detail, in the face of frequent inbound enquiries and other requests;
- Excellent news (and overall) judgment, as well as outstanding writing and communications skills.
