Managing these more and more complex project needs experts that can ensure timely, scope, and budget project delivery.

Conservation International (CI) is seeking an Operations Manager for Europe. This position is based in Belgium and reports to the Brussels-based Senior Director of Operations.
The Operations Manager manages some of the financial, human resources, and administrative functions of a CI Europe division. They support financial reporting to provide management with timely and relevant financial information to make informed decisions. They help develop budgets and revenue forecasts and support the development of strategic plans as they impact operation functions.
In addition to supporting financial management, the Operations Manager supports the program’s human and operational resources. They ensure operation functions are efficient and effective and recommend improvements that improve efficiency, productivity, operational capacity, and alignment with the program’s business plans and CI’s overall conservation objectives. They are accountable for ensuring that operational functions are in compliance with CI’s policies and procedures and local reporting and governance bodies. The Operations Manager works with management and HQ to implement audit findings.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
Financial Management:
- Supports the Senior Manager Operations in the program’s budget and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. Work with program management to identify and implement follow-up actions when necessary.
- Manage timely and accurate recording of accounting transactions. Ensure compliance with CI policies and procedures and local reporting requirements.
- Supports the Senior Manager Operations in budgeting, reporting, and financial compliance of grants and donor agreements.
- Supports the Senior Manager Operations in the annual and ad-hoc budgeting and financial modeling. Support fundraising proposal efforts.
- Ensure the effective and efficient stewardship of CI’s assets and financial resources. Supports program audits and ensures the audit findings recommendations are addressed and implemented.
- Supports the Senior Manager Operation in the operations budget.
- Supports the Senior Manager Operations in other financial issues that arise, including risk management.
Human Resources
- Work closely with Global HR for guidance on people management issues including performance management, merit review, recruiting, staffing, and compliance with CI policy and local labor laws. Provide guidance to supervisors on personnel issues.
- Support and advise management in staffing, staffing, and strategic planning efforts.
- Manage capacity-building efforts and partner with management and HQ to ensure staff is engaged and able to deliver results. Identify and implement training needs.
- Oversee all employment regulation requirements, ensuring that all CI-Europe staff is in full compliance with immigration, labor, working conditions, compensation, benefits, and tax statutes in all different European countries where CI operates (currently Belgium, UK, France, the Netherlands but expanding to other countries like Germany and Switzerland.
- Manage payrolls and related tasks with different payroll providers (includes checking payslips, payroll follow-up in accounting, etc.).
