**1. SUMMARY**
The NATO Situation Centre (SITCEN) is designed to provide situational awareness and alerting to the North Atlantic Council and the Military Committee in fulfilling their respective functions during peace, in periods of tension and crisis and for high level exercises. This is to be achieved through the receipt, exchange and dissemination of information from all available internal and external sources. The SITCEN Admin Support and Knowledge Management office is the central point within the SITCEN for information management and control. It retains primary responsibility for security and for the administration of the SITCEN spaces. Additional duties include training co-ordination and financial management.
The SITCEN Information Technology Assistant is responsible for supporting the SITCEN Information Management processes and for the administration of the Information Systems used in support of these processes (standalone and networked). S/he will oversee the correct functioning of the Information Systems and implement appropriate solutions for utilising and optimising the systems in order to achieve improved information flow for the SITCEN.
**2. QUALIFICATIONS **AND **EXPERIENCE**
**ESSENTIAL**
The incumbent must:
- have a good level of education, at least to higher secondary level or to secondary level complemented with higher vocational Information Technology (IT) training;
- possess higher secondary education qualification with 4 years of experience in information management support functions, OR upper vocational training/ post-secondary degree in a discipline relevant for this position with 2 years of experience in information management support functions;
- have experience in implementing, customizing and maintaining information technology solutions;
- have a good understanding of industry standard change management procedures in the field of information technology;
- be detail-oriented and accurate;
- possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; II (“Elementary”) in the other; and be available to work unsocial hours.
**DESIRABLE**
The following would be considered an advantage:
- a university degree or equivalent experience in IT;
- additional training, education and expertise within electronic media and communication systems, web-design, networking software and computer operating systems support; and
- experience in a multi-national organisation.

Assist in the implementation of the appropriate change management procedures in order to carry out system changes in a controlled environment. Advise users in their daily work regarding the use of the information systems running at SITCEN. Coordinate closely with local and NATO-wide technical departments and implement software, hardware and network updates and changes as required.

**Financial Management**
Maintain the inventory of information systems in use at SITCEN. Assist the SITCEN Information Management Coordinator in drafting the yearly budget requirements for new systems to be acquired, following an analysis of the business requirements and an accurate market research.
**Knowledge Management**
Control the quality of the procedures, provide constructive suggestions to improve office procedures. Find ways to be faster, better and more effective in managing information and using office tools.
Perform any other related duty as assigned.
**4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS**
The incumbent is a member of the SITCEN Admin Support and Knowledge Management office and reports to the SITCEN Information Management Coordinator. He/she is also required to liaise with technical staff and INFOSEC staff at the International Staff, International Military Staff and NATO Office of Security (NOS), as well as in other NATO organisations (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and NATO Agencies). Contacts with private IT companies are also frequent.
