**JOUW ROL EN OPDRACHT**
Als postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan de Universiteit Gent neem je deel aan het ERC-Consolidator Grant-project A New Connoisseurship: Smart ways to detect forgeries (ARTDETECT ', onder leiding van de hoofdonderzoeker, professor Anna Tummers. Het project richt zich op het ontwikkelen van nieuwe methoden om vervalsingen op te sporen. Het team zal bestaan uit zeven leden die intensief samenwerken.
De succesvolle kandidaat wordt verantwoordelijk voor deelproject 2: 'Recente verwarring op het terrein van moderne schilderkunst', wat bestaat uit diepgaande case-studies van (vermoedelijke) vervalsingen van moderne schilderijen en relevante referentiewerken. Het doel van dit deelproject is om inzichten uit de (technische) kunstgeschiedenis, conservatie, restauratie en materiaalwetenschappen te combineren en hiermee significante anomalieën, aanwijzingen en patronen te herkennen in de visuele kenmerken, gebruikte technieken en materialen, verouderingsverschijnselen maar ook in de herkomstgeschiedenis en de artistieke en kunsttheoretische context. De Postdoc werkt samen met de hoofdonderzoeker, de project manager, de conservator/chemicus en andere relevante specialisten. Naast kunsthistorische methoden worden uiteenlopende technische beeldmiddelen en analysemethoden gebruikt, waaronder hoge resolutie fotografie, infraroodreflectografie, röntgenfotografie, röntgenfluorescentie scans, RIS (reflectance imaging spectroscopy), Raman spectroscopie, loodisotopenanalyse en koolstofdatering. Schilderijen die recent zijn onderschept door de politie, bij een beurs of een veilinghuis vormen het startpunt voor de case studies.
Jouw taken zullen onder meer bestaan uit:
- Minimaal 70% van je opdracht wordt besteed aan wetenschappelijk onderzoek;
- Het selecteren van relevante case studies en referentiewerken die aansluiten bij de doelstellingen van het ARTDETECT project
- Het verzamelen en analyseren van schillende soorten gegevens en bronnenmateriaal die relevant zijn voor het ARTDETECT project waar nodig in samenwerking met relevante specialisten en het opnemen hiervan in de projectdatabase
- Het voltooien van mínimaal drie artikelen als hoofdauteur voor publicatie in wetenschappelijke peer-reviewed tijdschriften
- Het regelmatig persoonlijk bijwonen van teamvergaderingen;
- De organisatie van één internationale conferentie in samenwerking met de team manager en de hoofdonderzoeker
- Bekendheid geven aan je onderzoeksresultaten (voor zover niet vertrouwelijk) door deelname aan internationale workshops en conferenties.
**JOUW PROFIEL**
- Je hebt een diploma van doctor op proefschrift in de technische kunstgeschiedenis of conservatie en restauratie met een relevante specialisatie
- Je hebt een publicatiedossier in je vakgebied dat in overeenstemming is met je loopbaanfase;
- Je hebt ruime ervaring met het onderzoeken van moderne Europese en/of Amerikaanse schilderijen in een museum of conservatie laboratorium en met het type interdisciplinaire samenwerking dat essentieel is in het onderzoeksproject
- Je bent een teamspeler met uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden en een goed gevoel voor discretie en omgang met gevoelige informatie
- Je bent punctueel in je planning en in het behalen van resultaten
- Je hebt een goede kennis van de verschillende Europese talen die relevant zijn voor je case studies: Nederlands, Frans, Italiaans, Duits
- Je hebt een uitstekende mondelinge en schriftelijke beheersing van de Engelse taal, geschikt voor academische expert meetings, presentaties en artikelen
- Een uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal is een plus, maar geen vereiste
