The highly-motivated project managers at the National Control Center (NCC) are driven by the ever-changing energy landscape (renewable energy integration and decentralised generation, new players on the market and central generation units closing down), changing regulations (interpretation and implementation of European Network Codes like Regional Operational Security Coordination) and the continued integration of European electricity markets (cross border capacity calculation/allocation and the further coupling of balancing markets on a European scale, etc.), along with very ambitious investment plans (Nautilus, Ventilus, Boucle du Hainaut and the Princess Elisabeth Island).
As a Project Manager at the NCC, you will manage challenging projects and also gain in-depth knowledge to be able to act as a subject expert for specific domains, processes and/or methods, both in-house and externally.
More specifically, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- You will ensure the realisation of complex change projects at the NCC and/or Elia. Amongst other things, this will involve managing budgets, planning and resources, coordinating project-team meetings, determining the needs of business (e.g. our operators), approving requirements for the business and technical design-proposals for new applications, testing (IT) solutions, reporting to management and actively participating in roll-out and hypercare after the go-live(s);
- Ensuring good communication and sufficient project reports, so all your stakeholders have access to the information they need to perform their roles in your projects;
- Managing your project team(s) in order to enable teams' competent, motivated and close-knit collaboration on the achievement of the project goals;
- Being given the opportunity to actively take part in international working groups (Core CCR, ENTSO-E, SIDC and SDAC, etc.) as a member and/or leader;
- Other duties, including development of the experience and expertise necessary to act as the company's internal and external point of contact for one or more operational fields (e.g. REMIT transparency, cross border capacity calculation & allocation, balancing and congestion management).

Your Profile- You have a Master's degree in a technical or economic field;
- You have at least three years' work experience;
- You speak English and Dutch or French fluently and are willing to improve your knowledge of Dutch or French if necessary;
- You find it easy to take initiative, are able to work both independently and in a team and come up with creative solutions;
- You know how to implement new processes and are pro-active in their improvement;
- You are analytical and are able to develop conceptual proposals and prepare detailed error analyses;
- You are able to quickly identify beneficial connections with other activities within the company;
- You are able to communicate assertively, including with colleagues in other countries;
- You are willing to travel within Europe two to four days a quarter if required because of the projects allocated to you;
- Experience in an operational environment like the NCC and/or as a project manager in the electricity sector would be a great advantage. You have several years' experience in the energy industry at the very least.
In performing their duties, the employee has access to areas for which a prior security check will be carried out in accordance with the Screening law of December 11, 1998.
