Technical support officer (ESEP)

**European Schoolnet** **is looking for a helpdesk and technical officer to join our dynamic team on a web**

**development project (the European School Education platform).**

The position gives the opportunity to work in an international non-profit organisation located in

Brussels. You will be working on European School Education Platform, a project for the European

Commission targeted at teachers and educators across Europe.

Together with a multidisciplinary team you will support end-users to reach their goals, investigate and

create bug reports for technical issues and actively participate in weekly meetings with the

representatives from the development team. You will be part of the technical team which meets on

a weekly basis, stands ready to guide and support you in your daily tasks, and enables you to gain

first-hand experience with different tasks.

**MAIN TASKS**

As a technical support officer, you will be the first point of contact for users experiencing technical

problems l:

- Handle user support requests via helpdesk ticketing systems (Deskpro and Jira).
- Investigate technical issues reported by end-users and the project’s network of collaborators.
- Review content flagged by users and follow up accordingly.
- Contribute to technical release testing of platform features and reporting about them.
- Report complex incidents to the platform development manager and the functional analyst.
- Support the team in reviewing user stories and mock-ups.

Other relevant tasks may include preparing monitoring and web analytics reports, web editing, and

supporting usability testing.

**WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU**

Required:

- At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. IT, digital media, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of web design processes.
- Experience in user support inquiries and helpdesk would be an asset.
- A professional proficiency of English, both spoken and written and strong communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a customer oriented and pro-active approach to assigned tasks.
- Ability to (re)organise your priorities/daily tasks based on requests from end-users and

colleagues.
- A positive and pedagogical attitude, being a fast learner and interested in learning by doing.

Nice to have:

- Interest in web usability and accessibility best practices (W3C, WAI)
- Basic experience with business requirements documents and/or user stories
- Experience with Drupal CMS

**USEFUL INFORMATION**
- **Duration**: 12-month CDD (Contract Duration Determinée - a fixed-term contract)

according to Belgian standard conditions (renewable). Full time from Monday to Friday

(possibility to choose between 38 or 40 hours / week).

- **Location**: European Schoolnet’s office is at Rue de Trèves/Trierstraat 61, Brussels, Belgium. The

position requires living in Belgium.
