Function
Within the Elia / 50 Hertz Group procurement organization, the "Contract & Claim Management" team is a centralized function for the management of the relationship with contractors for large investment projects over the complete project life cycle. The Contract & Claim Manager will be involved from the fare beginning of the project (incl. preparation of the tender and contract documents, negotiation with Supplier, etc.) but fully responsible during the execution phase.
During the execution phase, the contract manager is responsible - together with the project and package managers - to manage the agreed contracts with the suppliers in terms of performance, costs, timing, handling of claims and all commercial & legal aspects. He / she will be supported in his /her role by the technical project team, the company lawyers, other relevant departments within the Elia Group or external consultants. The current position is focussing on the supplier contracts for the design, production and installation (mainly offshore) of subsea cable systems for the Princess Elisabeth Island (MOG 2) Project.
**Main tasks of the Contract & Claim Manager**:
Support and consult the package managers / project leader in all contractual and commercial aspects to ensure that the construction project is successful at all levels of project lifecycle.
Develop and manage commercial and claim project strategies in cooperation and alignment with the Project Management
Handle and proactive managing of variations, obstructions & claims in consultation with the technical project manager and team members
Drafting and manage the commercial project correspondence and documentation
Manage contract risks, disputes and resolution in an appropriate way
Handling commercial aspects and documents (incl. payment milestones, price adjustments,)
Manage contract deliverables on time, and ensure the quality & cost framework
- In the event of problems, he / she takes corrective measure with the technical project manager and align “way forward” with the suppliers.
Preparation of management
- and status reports (incl. KPI tracking)
Moderating the interfaces between supplier and the teams especially in escalated situation or cooperative problem solving by identify opportunities to cause win - win situations
Claim tracking and continuous proceeding of disputed litigation in close cooperation with the legal department and project management
Providing necessary feedback to the internal departments, CCM Team and buyers in order to prevent issues in the future (lessons learned)
Your Profile
You have a Master’s degree with a commercial, legal or technical (Civil or industrial engineer,) orientation
Several years of experience in a similar role (contract management) and have a thorough knowledge of managing international partners
You have a good knowledge of Dutch or French and a good command of English is a must;
You enjoy working independent with project management mindset and ability to deal with internal and external dispute is mandatory.
You have a strategic focus and wider view on the whole project targets - incorporated into your daily work
You have a highly analytical mind with problem solver and solution-driven attitude, allowing you to achieve substantiated results quickly
You can communicate assertively and in a structured way esp. in an international environment;
**Experience in following areas would be an advantage**:
Advanced Contract and Claim Management and / or Project Management skills
Commercial background in execution of large projects (Turnkey / EPCI- / Framework contracts) and experience in negotiations
Worked in offshore investment projects (Offshore cable production and installation, offshore platforms,)
Knowledge about contract dispute & resolution (de-escalation) mechanisms
