Within the Aviation Transformation Directorate, the Aviation Intelligence Unit (AIU) leverages a huge range of EUROCONTROL data and analytical insights to promote the Agency's expertise and provides key data for decision makers.

The Operational Airport Performance Expert will contribute to the work programme of the Aviation Intelligence Unit/Operations (AIU/OPS) and support the improvement of Air Navigation Services (ANS) operational performance through data-driven analysis, the development of operational performance-related products, and stakeholder engagement. S/he will support and enhance the AIU/OPS portfolio related to operational performance at and around airports.

YOUR ROLE

Your role will be to:

- Provide impartial expertise, guidance and contributions to improve Air Navigation Services (ANS) operational performance through data analysis and forecasting, to identify trends and insights that support aviation policy and decision-making processes.
- Contribute to the further development of the ANS performance framework based on analysis of ANS and airport operations (i.e. supporting metrics and indicators and improving the understanding of interdependencies between the various performance areas).
- Review and report on ANS operational performance in line with the established performance framework, identifying key findings related to capacity, efficiency, and environment, with a particular focus on airport operations and surrounding airspace.
- Collaborate and liaise with both internal and external stakeholders (e.g., industry partners, regulatory bodies, etc.) to identify needs and build intelligence on ANS and airport performance.
- Produce and/or contribute to the drafting of analyses, dashboards and reports, as well as the preparation and presentation of communication materials to external and internal stakeholders.
- Stay updated on latest technological developments, methods, best practices, and trends and share them within the internal community to enhance organizational knowledge.
- Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job and AIU/OPS portfolio.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Completed university degree of 4 years or completed university degree of 3 years plus 1 year of relevant working experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
- Experience in airside airport operations and associated performance-related data.
- Experience in analysing and interpreting complex ANS data and producing data products (e.g. reports, data visualisation, etc).
- Understanding of data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Google Data Studio, Tableau, and markdown languages).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of SQL (e.g. MS Access, Oracle environments), and scripting languages (e.g. R, Python).
- Analytical thinking: you analyse information and are able to identify relationships.
- Planning & Organising: you know how to plan ahead and adapt as required.
- Customer Focus: you adapt services to respond to customer needs.
- Communication: you are able to foster two-way communication.
- Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
- Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach.

The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
