Vlerick is a school, but it is run as a company, aligned with the high standards we foster in our different programmes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven **Post-Doc Researcher **to join our **Entrepreneurship, Governance and Strategy **team **.
**The job**:
- Be responsible for developing and rolling out a European scale-up dashboard and other cross-European academic research initiatives focused on scale-ups.
- Explore existing monitors and dashboards to identify knowledge gaps and see how to differentiate from them.
- Co-develop a new methodology to map out and research scale-ups in Europe.
- Develop a data research strategy. This will entail data collection (e.g., contacting national statistics offices and exploring other relevant data providers) and analysing the collected data.
- Identify and coordinate a limited set of founding academic partners to launch a European consortium dedicated to mapping and researching scale-ups.
- Scout research funding opportunities both locally (e.g., EWI) and internationally (e.g., European Commission) to secure long-term structural funding in the context of scale-ups.
- Write reports and conduct academic research based on the collected data in collaboration with academic partners.
- This is a 2-year position whereby the emphasis of year one will be more on developing the core activities, while in year two, the focus should move to execution.**You**:
- Have a PhD degree in Economics, Business or Business Economics, preferably in the field of entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial finance.
- Have a working knowledge of statistics and econometrics.
- Know all about scale-ups. The scale-up landscape does not have secrets for you.
- Are experienced with both survey research and large-scale databases (I.A. Bureau Van Dijk, Orbis).
- Have a professional (near-native) level of English, both written and spoken. Being fluent in Dutch is a plus.
- Are excited to conduct inspiring research with a solid academic foundation.
- Will be located on our campus in Ghent, Brussels, or Leuven in combination with your home office.
