POLITICO is looking for an entrepreneurial and motivational Sales Director to join our dynamic and growing Media Sales team. The position is based in POLITICO's London office. POLITICO is a pioneering and growing media company that covers global politics and policy.
This is a full-time position in London, United Kingdom, and involves travel around Europe.
**Description**
Politics and policy are critical to global infrastructure, and brands stand at the crossroads. POLITICO Media Solutions builds partnerships that create, convene, and connect these worlds. We work with global brands to reach a powerful audience of policymakers, political elites, business insiders, and opinion formers. Media Solutions is responsible for delivering digital, content, live, and partnership revenue, driving best-in-market media and content campaigns.
The U.K. Director of Sales will be part of the Executive Director, Media Solutions senior management team with (3) core objectives:
- Direct responsibility to ensure the total Media Solutions U.K. budget is achieved and in growth year on year.
- Manage a team of salespeople to accomplish their individual sales targets across key accounts, business renewal, and new business
- Collaboratively ensure that all Media Solutions revenues grow across the wider department to support the Europe team target
**Key Responsibilities**
**Revenue**:
- Achieve or exceed total digital, brand content and live advertising revenue targets
- Ensure we grow new business from the U.K. marketplace
- Collaborate with broader Media Solutions and Product teams to enhance specific digital product innovation projects for the benefit of the wider business, with the oversight of the Executive Director, Media Solutions
**Sales**:
- Develop, with E.U. Sales Heads, relationships with senior leads at key agencies and clients for the direct benefit of our partnerships revenues
- Directly leading presentations and sales efforts as appropriate to support revenue growth and the efforts of the Media Solutions Executive Director
- Personally, directly and proactively taking the lead on client and agency accounts where there is significant new business or growth opportunity.
**Leadership**:
- Line manager for U.K. sales team to help them achieve their and their team's targets.
- Developing the Media Solutions sales team's objectives and develop skills, experience, and market insight with corresponding Heads of Sales.
**Behavior**:
- Contribute to thought leadership on key topics impacting the business
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business on relevant projects and initiatives.
- Be a coach, mentor, collaborator, and team player, to the Media Solutions team and the wider business
- Act as a strong sounding board to Executive Director, Media Solutions, and work in conjunction with other key members of the leadership team to deliver against our priorities.
**What You'll Need**:
- 5+ years of professional experience, including business-to-business sales.
- Can demonstrate a proven track record in managing publisher digital sales teams and programmatic teams to hit revenue targets
- Comfortable presenting at a senior level; ability to craft narrative to position Politico as a growing global media company; demonstrable success at proactively pitching and winning new business; hunger and drive to grow new business; strong individual salesperson who understands managers' role as personally leading external sales effort
- Senior level contacts across agencies and client
- A thorough understanding of advertising products and ecosystem; enabling you to oversee market feedback for bringing new products to life.
- Experience in meeting or exceeding high sales targets and managing client relationships.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce or other CRM tools.
- A higher education degree is required.
- Fluent English, written and spoken, and any other European language.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Understanding of the public affairs ecosystem and advertising market trends.
- Interest in, and understanding of, current European political and policy issues.
- Sense of humor.
