To strengthen our **Global Rare medical team in the Rare Disease Organization (RDO)**, we are looking for a talented individual with experience in Rare/Ultra-rare Genetic or Metabolic Diseases to fill the position of**:Global Medical Lead - Thymidine Kinase 2 deficiency (TK2d)/Mitochondrial Disease **to be based in our **HQ in Brussels, Belgium, and US - (east coast preferred) or other locations in Europe.**
**The global medical lead (GML) Thymidine Kinase 2 deficiency (TK2d)/Mitochondrial Disease is a member of the Rare Medical team, reports to the Global Medical Indication Lead (GMIL) and provides therapeutic area expertise - defined as a deep understanding of the relevant disease and its physician and patient journey. The Global Medical lead has the scientific, clinical, or academic credentials and experience to be able to engage with thought leaders and other stakeholders in the therapeutic area (TA).**

- Be a key point person and trusted partner in the specific disease area working with the Development and Commercial/Market Access, to provide medical leadership and disease area expertise.
- Show your familiarity or develop familiarity with the disease area and the evolving patient and physician journey when new treatment options emerge
- Identify Centers of Excellence and develop global expert networks, build partnerships, and collaborate with patient organizations and private companies in the Rare Disease space
- Articulate the value of treatment, based on the integration of various sources of data, including UCB sponsored interventional and non-interventional clinical studies, external databases, and literature. The GML has a key role in contributing to the integration and interpretation of these various data sources and translates these into medical strategy and tactics, including communication, education to a variety of stakeholders (global, regional, local), tailoring these as needed. The medical lead ensures scientific integrity and balanced reflection of the interpretation and dissemination of the data.
**You will** contribute** **by**:
- Working with the Global Medical Indication Lead (GMIL) and the cross-functional team to develop and execute the global medical strategy and related tactics, appropriately aligned with overall UCB/RDO strategy as a standing member of the Global Medical Indication Team (GMIT).
- Providing medical leadership as Global Medical representative on project-based teams for the indication.
- Acting as a company representative with external scientific leaders/physicians, patient organizations and regulatory authorities
- Establishing strategic world-wide partnerships with small numbers of centers of excellence (CoE) and thought leaders in the Rare Disease space. Building strong relationships, based on patient focus, integrity, and trust with the network and ecosystem of the specific indication to demonstrate UCB’s long term commitment to the disease area, and to leverage this network to provide world class expertise to guide the evidence generation plan for maximal patient benefit.
- Identifying data and insight gaps and define strategies and tactics to address these gaps proactively using a diverse selection of appropriate methods to generate insights and data (e.g., advisory boards, scientific data generation efforts, other).
- Provide Medical Leadership for proactive and reactive scientific communication to raise disease awareness and to communicate about the treatment value as this evidence grows, using publications, scientific presentations, and other external communication platforms, ensuring transparency and consistency.
- Ensuring that the treatment value is articulated in a scientific way in the framework of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) discussion.
- Ensuring in close collaboration with Patient Engagement and the Safety Lead that communication with patients about benefit/risk is using the right lay language, resulting in a balanced presentation of the benefit/risk
