Government Relations & Public Affairs (GRPA) is ABB’s center of expertise and competence for ABB’s relations and dealings with governments and public officials. The VP and Head of European Union Government Relations and Public Affairs (GRPA) is a management and ad-vocacy position and will lead ABB’s Brussels office. In line with ABB’s business strategy and decentralized way of working, this person will work on public policy and advocacy on diverse issues, including energy, climate change, decarbonization, electrification, trade, sustainabil-ity, and others. This position reports to ABB’s Group Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement European GRPA strategy to support ABB Group and its decen-tralized businesses.
- Lead Brussels office. Coach and develop direct and indirect team members. Participate in ABB internal governance bodies.
- Drive all ABB public policy advocacy in the European Union on energy, climate change, decarbonization, electrification, trade, sustainability, and other issues, with input and collaboration from business partners and relevant functions, e.g., Sustainability. Align policy initiatives and activities among ABB colleagues in the EU, when advantageous.
- Provide strategic counsel and analysis. Monitor, analyze and provide counsel on devel-opments in the European legislative, regulatory, political and economic environment and advise management on how these trends may impact ABB’s business interests.
- Lead advocacy and stakeholder engagement to influence policy and/or business issues.
- Lead interaction with European Union government officials for the business. Oversee participation in associations and bodies important to ABB with the goal of influencing legislation, standards and policies, in close coordination internal ABB stakeholders.
- Support integrity culture in GRPA and model highest standards of behavior in interac-tions with government and policy stakeholders. Uphold and reinforce ABB’s policies and standards. Ensure that government relations activities protect and strengthen ABB’s brand, reputation and business activities.

**Your background**:

- 10-15 years of experience in European government relations, public affairs, or similar roles. Private sector experience required.
- In-depth knowledge of global issues (e.g.: energy, trade, and climate change) and interna-tional affairs; good understanding of business and economics, and the policy and law-making process.
- Solutions oriented mindset, structured, gets things done and on time.
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and advocacy skills to influence, negotiate and persuade.
- Experience managing experienced professionals; team mindset.
- Interested in the business and driven by contributing to company success. Strong busi-ness acumen.
- Strong inner drive to make a difference and contribute.
- Fluent English: additional European languages are a plus.
- University degree, preferably master’s level, MBA a plus.
