Role: Social Media Expert – European Commission
Responsibilities:
- Creating daily content, involving multiple departments, for the central social media accounts of the European Commission, with a focus on Twitter.
- Spotting new available features, formats, and trends on social media and activating them with relevant content in line with EU policies and priorities.
- Identifying threats and opportunities in user-generated content and reporting back to internal stakeholders.
- Developing and maintaining the editorial calendar for social media communication.
- Writing compelling long-format content for different platforms.
- Coordinating the work and developing new social media formats and episodic content.
- Monitoring the social media activities of the Social Media Network of the European Commission, spotting opportunities, liaising with social media contacts in the Commission, and proposing content for central social media accounts.
- Nurturing good collaboration and providing guidance about Twitter to the Social Media Network.
Requirements:
- Great experience with social media.
- Great experience managing/creating content for social media accounts.
- Previous experience managing a Twitter page would be an advantage.
- Great understanding of EU affairs and priority topics of the European Commission.
- Good experience working under time constraints.
- Previous experience as a community manager would be an advantage.
Languages:
- Excellent knowledge of English – Level C2 in Understanding, Speaking, and Writing.

- Highly flexible and able to adapt to changing and/or conflicting priorities.
- Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conceptualize complex technical environments and issues.
- Proactive attitude, customer-oriented, and results-driven.
- Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working and working in an international/multicultural environment.
