(Senior) Scientist in Vitro Pharmacology

eTheRNA immunotherapies was founded in 2013. eTheRNA has established an integrated set of proprietary capabilities for an end-to-end solution to design, develop and manufacture next-generation mRNA products based on enabling technologies. eTheRNA’s business model will utilize this suite of capabilities to provide superior products for partners in both early-stage research as well as later-stage development for mRNA therapeutics. eTheRNA will leverage its proprietary molecular designs, lipid biochemistry expertise, customized lipid nanoparticle formulations (cLNPs), mRNA-based T cell adjuvants, and advanced manufacturing processes to overcome the current challenges facing the development of mRNA therapeutics. By expanding its significant expertise in designing, synthesizing, and manufacturing cLNPs with a spectrum of properties suitable for a range of prophylactic and therapeutic indications, this innovative business model will allow the company to accelerate near-term revenue growth through technology licensing and mRNA cGMP manufacturing services for multiple future partners.

**General job description**:
You will be part of the in vitro Pharmacology group within the Pharmacology department that is responsible for cell-based or non-cell based assay development as well as the design and execution of the in vitro assays to support our technology platform development.
This position reports to the Principal Scientist Pharmacology and will be based in both our research site in Niel and Ghent, Belgium.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Conceive and execute efficient screening strategy in collaboration with Head of In Vitro Pharmacology, including participating in the selection and implementation of appropriate technologies to support the company’s mission
- Generate reproducible data with appropriate documentation/reporting and collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members
- Continually cultivate scientific/technical expertise through critical review of the scientific literature, attending external conferences, and developing relationships with key opinion leaders.
- Prioritize workflow and follow challenging timelines of multiple projects to achieve project and company goals according to budget
- Identify and coordinate activities with CROs when required
- Team lead role: support, train and manage the experimental work of research assistant(s) and scientists
- Writing reports and preparation of regulatory documents
- Contribute to the development of RNA delivery technology and the generation of intellectual property
- Present data internally, at scientific conferences and at meetings with partner organizations and/or regulators**Job requirements**:
**Education**:
- PhD in life science
- **Experience**:
- 3+ years of experience in working in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Proven experience screening of drug-like small molecules in vitro and in cells, in a biotech/pharma environment.
- Expert knowledge in automation of biochemical and cell-based assays including reporter gene assays.
- Team player with excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
- Advanced scientific writing skills
- Project management expertise and training would be an advantage
- Supervision of scientists or research technicians
- Worked in a matrix environment
- Experience of nucleic acid research would be an advantage but not essential
