**A. POST CONTEXT
SHAPE is the strategic level command responsible for the planning, preparation, conduct and execution of NATO operations, missions, activities and tasks as directed by Council in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the Alliance.
Strategic Development and Preparation Directorate develops, reviews and maintains Strategic Operations Planning, Advanced Planning and Crisis Planning products for ACO; prepares the NCS and declared forces for current and future operations across the full spectrum of mission areas; develops ETEE direction and guidance; ensures forces are prepared in accordance with evaluation criteria; oversees and executes the ACO LL process.
The Strategic Development of Forces (SDF) Division coordinates and assures the synchronization and cohesion of all issues related to the development, generation and readiness of NATO forces and force capabilities.
CFR Branch coordinates the identification of required capabilities and forces, and provides ACO input regarding defence planning requirements and related activities.
DPF Section co-ordinates ACO’s contribution to NDPP and represents SHAPE in all related activities.
This Post contributes to the Defence Planning and Future Requirements (DPF) Section. The DPF Section will co-ordinate ACO’s contribution to NATO Defence Planning Process and represents SHAPE in all related activities. DPF will coordinate ACO contribution in operational perspective to NDPP Step-1 and will ensure that ACO’s Advance Planning requirements are properly addressed during Step-2 and 3. It will lead the biennial NDPP STEP-5 Bi-SC Suitability and Risk Assessment and ensure ACO’s participation in the concept development and experimentation processes related to NDPP. DPF provides Defense Planning Advice inside ACO and operational advice to ACT in close coordination with SHAPE Divisions.
In the context of the implementation of the Concept for the Deterrence and Defence of the Euro-Atlantic Area (DDA) and the NATO Warfighting Capstone Concept (NWCC), the demand signal for seeing these initiative inform the NDPP have arisen and DPF section coordination activities are needed for aligning Defense Planning and Operations Planning. As a section assistant, the incumbent is accountable to OSC PFFP 0010 for supporting the harmonization of the Operations requirement stemming from the DDA family of plans, NDPP and NATO 2030 requirements.

**C. PRINCIPAL DUTIES**
**Principal Duties**
The incumbent’s duties are to:
- Assists the section head in coordinating the section contribution to relevant meetings and document production,
- Coordinates NDPP products contribution to DDA family of plans Force Requirements,
- Provides support to Defense Planning Section, by contributing to/elaborating on/summarizing documents, participating in meetings and workshops and providing creative/innovative input to Defence Planning related matters,
- Performs as ACO Point of Contact for Defence Planning issues and coordinating DPF staff points of contact as required,
- Coordinates with subordinate commands for Defence Planning issues,
- Coordinates DPF staff for ACO contributions to all the documents/products related to NDPP steps;
- Provides advice and support to SHAPE regarding Defence Planning issues,
- Coordinates ACO contributions to the development/revision of the Capability Codes and Capability Statements (CC&CS),
- Performs as an ACO coordinator in DPF for the development of the Bi-SC-Suitability and Risk Assessment,
- Provides Liaison with NCIA for Defence Planning purposes,
- Supports the harmonization of the Operations requirements stemming from the DDA family of plans, NDPP and NATO 2030 requirements.

**D. ADDITIONAL DUTIES**
The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments both within and without NATO’s boundaries and be willing to work unsocial hours.
The work is normally performed in a typical Office environment. Normal Working Conditions apply. The risk of injury is categorised as: No risk / risk might increase when deployed.
