The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit, medical society. It is an independent, non-governmental organisation.
The ESC is a source of high quality, evidence-based science that pushes the boundaries of cardiovascular medicine. Our members and decision-makers are healthcare professionals who give their time and expertise freely, while continuing their daily, high-paced clinical and/or research work. ESC volunteers are world-renowned experts; their opinions are routinely sought and their papers regularly published and referenced.
The ESC coordinates observational registries, creates clinical practice guidelines, and organises and endorses educational programmes. We disseminate robust and independent science through our congresses, journals and educational digital tools. We’re the voice of the cardiology community when advocating for heart-health policies, regulations and funding.
All of these things enable us to identify cardiovascular trends, address inequalities, share best practices to improve standards of care for patients

The ESC employs 200 staff, based in Nice and Brussels, who support ESC volunteers in the development and management of these activities.
The ESC is looking for a dedicated **Scientific Documents Officer **to support the Scientific Documents Department.
**Job summary**
The ESC Scientific Documents officer will be working closely with the Scientific Documents Manager in supporting the administration related to scientific documents produced by internal constituent bodies of the ESC. This role facilitates the collaboration between volunteers, the ESC staff and the ESC Committee in charge of the coordination and review of scientific documents.
- Main tasks include_
- Oversee generic mailboxes, incoming requests and answer queries from ESC volunteers and staff
- Provide administrative support to the Scientific Documents Manager and volunteers with the organisation of meetings (date identification, agenda preparation and follow up, minute the meetings, assure that appropriate follow-up is taken) and general communication
- Maintain up to date the database of document review requests allowing for documentation of decisions and document status and progress.
- Screening and preliminary review of manuscripts for elements requiring revisions and related communication with volunteers
- Management of author declaration of interest review process
- Take minutes in meetings, prepare regular and ad-hoc reports, act as reference contact for all matters requiring updates on ongoing projects.
**Qualifications**:
- Master degree
- Minimum 1-3 years’ work experience in relevant setting (academic, industry or consulting).
- Ideally working experience within academic environment and/or administration
- Project coordination experience in scientific project is an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to perform in a multicultural environment
- Ability to work under pressure and be flexible
- Self-driven and multi-task oriented
- Competent administrator, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent English, any additional language would be an asset
